About Me

I was born and raised in the deep suburbs of New Jersey. Once I was old enough to realize I had a a choice in where I spent my time, I got the hell out of there! I went to college, traveled in Europe, lived the island life, and ended up in Portland, OR waiting for the next adventure.

I am an extroverted-introvert. Sometimes a take a while to feel comfortable around new people and I always want to go right to the deep stuff. Small talk is a waste of time...I can be happy staying at home cooking or trying to figure out why my computer does what it does, but my favorite days are exploring the city on my bike.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just introduced to couch surfing in 2014 when I started staying at a house in Portland and there were always people coming and going. At first it seemed a little strange but I've grown to love meeting new people and constantly learning new things. Over the past year I have lived this house, we have hosted countless people from all over the world, sometimes 1 at a time, sometimes more than 5! It is pretty rare that any of our three couches are empty. I am finally putting together my own profile to officially contribute to the community so I am couch surf myself someday.

Interests

Cooking. Done it professionally for years and I love it more and more everyday. It's my meditation. I get in the rhythm, shut off my mind, and just move. Sometimes it's adrenaline as well. Making sure you flip the the pan at the right moment that caramelization is at it's peak without burning, and you add the next component with no time to spare. It's fun.

Also music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Never got really good at any instrument but I can keep a good beat and play a few songs on the piano. Lately I've been making music on my computer using Ableton. I love how you can manipulate sound so much and end up with noises that sound nothing like what you started with (or anything organic) but sound beautiful when played with other sounds.

Reddit. I spend a lot of time on there. It's the future. A perfect system for getting information. Up and down votes. I think the internet will save humanity.

I like talking philosophy. Religion too. What their roles are and why we feel the need to ask these questions. But really how could you not? It's dumbfounding to me the people who never ask these questions or never want to talk about them. "That's too deep man" Again, small talk is a waste of time.
