Overview
About Me
I'm a dorky creative-type from Long Island, New York who's enjoyed a lifelong curiosity about the world and everything in it. I am incredibly "artsy" and have dabbled in many different creative mediums, from drawing and writing to acting and singing to sound design and podcast creation. But day-to-day, I work retail on Long Island and spend my time off trying to explore new places, cultivate inner strength, and discover my life's true purpose.
I'm considering moving out of New York, to somewhere with a cheaper cost of living. I know there's somewhere out there I can settle down and find true happiness; I'm just not sure where yet!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After too many years spent working the retail grind with nothing to show for it, I only recently found the strength, self-respect, and financial security to start investing in myself again. I realized that I want to see as much of the world as I can, while I can, and so since then I've been on a number of super-fun adventures. I couch-surfed in Austin, Texas for a week, and traveled to Amsterdam, Netherlands and Dublin, Ireland with a friend. I also have a sister who moved to Denmark four years ago, and in 2017 I visited her on my own for the very first time!
I know this may look like only a modest travel portfolio, but each of these trips were huge accomplishments for me as a newcomer to the solo travel scene! Visiting new places helps me remember that the world is so much bigger than just working retail, and so I want to plan at least one big trip a year now. I want to find my place in the world and forge a life for myself that is truly meaningful, and truly satisfying.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Ben Folds (Five), Lake Street Dive, Alabama Shakes, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Childish Gambino, Janelle Monae, Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel, plenty of 70s and 80s classics, video game soundtracks, and Broadway showtunes (I know Hamilton by heart)
Movies: Marvel, Star Wars, Disney/Pixar, and besides all that I tend to seek out classic movies or movies with brilliant writing/directing/cinematography/animation.
Books: Currently I'm working through memoirs by two of my personal heroes, Ben Folds and Adam Savage (of Mythbusters fame). I also love graphic novels (Scott Pilgrim, Adventure Zone, Watchmen, Maus) and have a modest collection of concept art books from various animated movies and video games.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saw the Cliffs of Moher by land and by sea! Kayaked in the Pacific Ocean! Got my friends addicted to Dungeons and Dragons!
In college, I helped run and wrote arrangements for a Broadway showtune a cappella group! I spent the better part of two years teaching music, learning and growing with a group of excellent people, and being a part of an incredible creative collaboration. I'm incredibly proud of the time I spent in that a cappella group, and many of the people I met there are still friends of mine today!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Some goofy jokes and ridiculous retail stories! I can also cook a hearty breakfast!
