About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find out if engines get rewarded for their steam

ABOUT ME

I'm a fairly typical gent with the ever burning desire to avoid being typical (who isn't, really?). I'm a firm believer in a motto my friends and I came up with - "never plan, never panic" (with the possible addition of never die, though that might be ambitious). I have a number of passions (philosophy, music, literature) that I pursue with the fervour of a militant librarian collecting first editions and love meeting people with similar passions almost as much as I love to meet people with passions I've never experienced myself.

On the 9th of October 2009 I got on a ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe with my bike in tow. I intend to cycle around Europe. All I've got so far is a vague plan that keeps changing and even vaguer ambitions. If you'd like to see where I've been check out my little google map thingy - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=107833103567404292313.000476ec1a0667c4780da&z=4

Feb 2012 - After living in Italy for two years (in Milano) I've decided to get back on my bike and carry on traveling. I'm going to head east until I reach Istanbul then turn around and head back in the direction of home. That's the idea at least...if it's anything like last time I'll abandon all plans within a week of setting off.

PHILOSOPHY

A rigourous application of analytic method to political society without introducing unnecessary metaphysical postulates, including ethical and moral constraints, to produce a more accurate and non-perscriptive model of the relations between men as individuals and as societal entities.

...you asked.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was only introduced to the 'site when I started telling my mates about my continental ambitions. They suggested that it would be an amazing addition to my experience and I found out that they were right. I stayed with a tonne of nice people on my first trip by bicycle around Europe. Unfortunately I lived in a cramped little flat in Italy and so couldn't host anyone but the minute I settle down in a place big enough to have a couch I'll be on it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
