About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make music, explore nature, learn from everyone, find the identity of a place (because these are all one in the same, no?)

ABOUT ME

I feel most alive discovering, composing and performing new music (especially with piano/rhodes) and experiencing forms of expression and culture. I love the wild solitude of nature and also love the chaos of a bustling city. Hoping to step outside of my comfort zone and learn something everyday!

Music, Movies, and Books

Jazz off all kinds: Hard-bop, post-bop, bebop, "modern" shit, ethiopian jazz, fusion, funk, afrobeat, soul, hiphop, etc. etc... french impressionism, romantic symphonies, string quartets, classical Hundustani music, gamelan, some electronic music, psychedelic rock, African diaspora music, Malian music, west-African/Guinea coast music, Afro-Brazilian, Afro-cuban/caribbean percussion.
I'm also fairly obsessed with Herman Hesse books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Performing at Santa Cruz's Kuumbwa Jazz center on the same stage where I've in the past seen many of my musical heroes perform was a most humbling and memorable experience!
Also climbing 15,000 feet to the top of Mt. Whitney- the views and the watermelon snacks at the top were out of this world

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to teach piano, guitar, drums or English to my new friends, hosts, and guests! I also love learning new languages
