About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Documenting global bboy (breakdancing) culture and DANCING FREE around the world!
ABOUT ME
*I tend to write long answers to these kinds of questions, hope you don't mind the read :)
Nomadic bboy/dancer and researcher, open minded and curious, child of a burgeoning A.D.D. generation which = addicted to stimulation of any form: knowledge, adventure, conversation, movement, music, video, emotion, curiosity, attraction, introversion, extroversion, etc. I like to dig deeper and situate any experience as one I can learn from and share with those around me. Major music enthusiast, collecting anything that inspires me from the ever expanding musical universe of the modern day!
My mission statement is pretty specific because I actually am writing a research paper on global bboy (breakdancing) culture to be completed by Spring 2012. My travels will take me to S. Korea, Europe, and Cambodia until the end of the year. This work is what will consume my time abroad throughout the rest of the 2011 but I am still a wanderlust soul ready to explore places, learn culture, meet amazing people, have fruitful conversations, and go on awesome ADVENTURES!
PHILOSOPHY
A student of life growing every day, a dancer by love never letting go of his inner child! My ultimate goal in life is to never lose the eyes of a child--to always remain driven by curiosity and fascination with all of life's nuances, and to always appreciate the simple things, no matter how complicated life gets. Adventure and Soul Searching drive me. This is why I have always been a traveler.
"Acquire Knowledge, it enables one to distinguish right from wrong -- it lights the way to heaven.
It is our friend in the desert, our company in solitude, and companion when friendless.
It guides us to happiness, it sustains us in misery, and it is an ornament amongst friends and armor against enemies."
- Islamic Hadith (attributed to the prophet Mohammad)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
People who can blow my mind are awesome but people who are legitimately interested in anything will always be on my favorites list. I'd like to hope that I can bring to my hosts a unique perspective, good conversation, and a lot of excess love and passion!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Everywhere I've traveled (S America, Europe, Asia) I've met people who I've befriended, and they've offered me a place to stay in their homes, to meet their families, to feed me, and show me their city. Often times they were dancers like me, but they taught me about kindness and inspired me to do the same for travelers who come to the bay area. I learned recently the joy of performing this same act for someone traveling near where I live, to give them a unique fulfilling experience. So though I have never been signed up on this site, I've been couchsurfing for close to 3 years now.

Music, Movies, and Books
"Dancing is how we say Thank You to the music." - Brooklyn Terry
with that in mind, I am a music lover to a high degree, exploring as many genres and emotional ranges as I can. From Hip Hop to house, indie folk to experimental electronic, from filthy dubstep to post-dubstep, broken beat/IDM, b-side funk, jazz, ambience, movie scores, meditation music, RnB, Lounge, etc. I really do like to give musical gifts to people as I like to keep my laptop and external handy to share with people. I'm always open to music from others as well, as I love hearing the things that inspire other people!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I found what it is I love and have still kept the balance in my life to accomplish my goals & dreams! As for travel stories, I think it's better to share those in person :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching people how to dance as long as they're comfortable enough to act like kids, be silly, and have a good time! I'm learning how to make Cambodian food from my mom that we can maybe concoct together. I have other random miscellaneous skills...and I would love to learn ANYTHING from the people I meet! Learning how to cook things from specific cultures is definitely something I would like to acquire. I'm not sure what else to write, life is full of lessons!
