About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get to know the world, it's people, and enjoy that everything that happens along the way. Also, to see some rocking live music whenver possible.

ABOUT ME

I'm in love with traveling and since I'm new to CS, I hope it's like one big virtual hostel where everyone is awesome! About myself, I graduated college in 2010 and decided to move to Chile on my own to improve my spanish. I lived in the Lakes Region in the south working as a adventure tourism guide (rafting, canyoning) and I absolutely fell in love with the South of Chile. The people and pace of life is so different from what I grew up with, and I thoroughly enjoyed life there. I met some incredible people there who I'll be friends with for the rest of my life. After that, I moved to the capital Santiago and got a taste of the city life, which was different but great too. All in all, I consider myself a worldly guy and I love meeting new people from around the world because too many people get caught up in their own insular little (in my case, American) world. I'm the son of a German immigrant (no, I don't speak German...thanks Dad) so I guess I can thank my parents for raising me as the open-minded person I am today.

I like have my space at times, but I love being around people too...I'd definitely characterize myself as social. I also enjoy getting rowdy when the time permits, but I equally enjoy laying low with friends.

I LOVE MUSIC! Get out my music blog (www.auralvillains.com) and see if you find any new tunes you love!

PHILOSOPHY

Ride for Love. I saw a shirt once in Argentina that said "Ride for Love" with a skateboarder in the middle of a peace sign design. I love skating, but I'm not particularly good at it, so that motto really resonated with me. Do you what you love and you'll be happy. Unless of course you love killing kittens or something weird like that, that's not cool.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I got back from living abroad in December 2011 and have since been living with these really cool older roommates who pay for rent and food AKA My Parents! It's really not bad because they are wonderful people. I literally just accepted a job offer yesterday, so I'll be living at home for a few months to stack that cheese, then I'll move to the DC area once my first assignment in Baltimore comes to a close.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None! I want to get some though.

Interests

Music, music, music. It might be easier if you go to my blog www.auralvillains.com to check out what I like.

Anything on a board. I love longboarding, surfing, skiing. I used to skate but I could never get a kickflip down, so that kind of ruined my progression. I still enjoy doing it though, I Ride for Love.

Sports.
Meeting new people.
Staying at great hostels.
Hiking.
Camping when the whether is nice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile to Los Salares de Unuyi in Bolivia in a 4 day Jeep trek across the Bolivian Altiplano. It was probably the most beautiful place I've ever been to, although the altitude destroyed me haha.
