About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find our new home

ABOUT ME

I have lived and studied in the Appalachians my whole life. My wife and young son are my joy and delight and open my eyes to a world full of discovery and life. I'm laid back with an easy laugh and I'm studying to become a general surgeon and in search of a residency that will require us to move this coming year!

PHILOSOPHY

My life is not about me. There are too many people that have helped guide me to where I am to take that much credit. I want to care and love and understand people well, no matter how long or short their presence in my life is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have friends coming to visit and passing through on a regular basis and love to hear about their lives and what they're doing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been the gracious recipient of many overnight stays with strangers who are kind enough to open their homes to me on many adventures and trips throughout the US and abroad. I've spent the past 2 months in a friend of a friend's home while on clinical rotations.

Interests

I have a vested interest in healthcare, I like the satisfaction of knowing how to work on my car, I enjoy cooking and throwing things together to create new meals and tastes, my 1 year old son has recently introduced me to Eric Carle and Sandra Boynton, whose writings I am very fond of, I play the alto sax and enjoy any good music, and I like to grow small trees.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy WIRED magazine, anything by Malcom Gladwell, and am a fan of Agatha Christie's work. However, most of my reading consists of medical textbooks and journals.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fell in love with the Avett Brothers before they were cool, and have explored the bush of Suriname.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you a couple lessons with a Rubik's cube and some basic origami
