About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience different cultures, people, languages, and have moments of beauty in my life.

ABOUT ME

I consider myself to be a relaxed person, I want to enjoy my life, the world I live in, and the people around me. I pursue a good life through music, cycling, photography, stand-up comedy, philosophy, literature, cooking, dadaism, good beers, film, and interesting conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

What I hope to do with this website is travel and meet new people as well as have people come to me and allow me to show them some of my culture. I believe travel is one of the most powerful forms of bringing the different cultures of the world closer together in a meaningful way. However, travel has been colonised by the tourism industry that markets a fake image of a culture and sells it to the masses for top dollar. That form of travel is worthless and pointless. Why bother traveling at all unless it is to understand a different culture better? If all you want is your culture handed to you in a different country and to buy a cheap souvenir to bring home, why leave home at all? I wish to learn more about different views and ways of daily life and therefore learn more about my world and myself. The tourist trip mentality is useless for that purpose, thank goodness for couchsurfing.com and the many participants who feel the same way. CS in this light could be seen as a form of empowerment and protest against consumerism co-opting cultures. Let's make the world a better place one couch at a time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience has been above and beyond any expectations i had when I first heard about CS. I have learned that there are many really interesting and hospitable people in every part of the world, through such opportunities as CS more cultures can truly come closer together while sharing their differences.
