About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep traveling. I'd rather travel and be poor than comfortable with money.

ABOUT ME

I like football (soccer), cooking, meeting new people, and experiencing cultures. I enjoy nature and love mountains.

In April of 2014 I was able to complete my life goal of traveling Europe on my own. It was an absolute dream come true. It was not easy, as I had to quit my job I loved to do it.

I met so many people and made it through the struggle of not knowing the languages of places I went to. It was a great experience.

PHILOSOPHY

Try to not have regrets and learn from mistakes. My goal in life is to simply be happy.

"So do all who live to see such (bad) times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

TRAVEL! TRAVEL! TRAVEL! Get lost in unknown places and truly see where you are. Nothing has given me more freedom than standing on top of the Swiss Alps and looking around. There was not a care in the world, no stress, no thoughts. Nature is a beautiful thing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to meet with locals wherever it is I travel to. If I had a stable couch to be available I would offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

*Minneapolis, Minnesota- There I met 3 other couch surfers, and we all stayed in the same place.

*Kingston, Canada- Met and biked with Giancomo and Oceane. Oceane was a CS at Giancomo's place. I met them at the park and we took a boat to a near island and biked to the beach and had lunch.

Interests

My favorite thing is to live like a local everywhere I go. That includes music, food, drinks, table manners, and phrases. Nothing will take you further in a language than learning how to say "Please", "Thank you", "Good", and "Cheers". With just those, you can be the nicest person.

I love sports. Football (soccer) is my favorite. I enjoy the outdoors, like fishing and camping. Nature is a beautiful thing, and there is nothing better than fresh water and glorious mountains.

I like learning about cultures and their unique celebrations and foods.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Sandlot, Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta, Seven, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Lost Boys

Music: Avenged Sevenfold, Silverstein, mostly rock and punk music. I love hearing live music.

Not much of a reader. Dracula. Lord of the Rings. I don't mind Shakespeare either.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed my life goal of traveling Europe on my own.

Returned to Europe as I promised myself I would.

Attended an FC Barcelona match at the Nou Camp. Saw Tottenham Hotspurs play at White Hart Lane.

Made it to the craziest party of the year, King's Day 2014 in Amsterdam.

Teach, Learn, Share

Try to learn enough of other languages to help me in my travels. Explain the crazy language that is English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Midwestern American food, some terrible slang, an open mind, willingness to adventure

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
