New to this. I might be older than most couch surfers but I seem to get along well with younger people. I’ve taught at University, I’m physically active and have an open mind. I grew up in suburban Indianapolis and spent time on my grandparents farm, but I’m a city girl at heart. Moved to Chicago at 19, then on to NYC where I taught in the. Bronx and became fluent in Spanish. I’ve spent a few summers in the Dominican Republic. Have family in Arizona, so much of my travel is to and from there. Recently returned from a week in Mexico City, have stories to share. . Hobbies are art, music, mountain biking, hiking. I love animals. I’m also learning to play guitar, but promise not to practice at your house unless you’re learning too. I’m not religious but respect others’ beliefs.

I’ve recently started to travel more and I’m a bit burnt out on cheap motels. Air B nBs are lovely, but expensive. So I’m hoping to find places to stay along the road and hopefully meet new friends as well. I’ve been away from home for five months now. I do have a home, and hope to host other surfers when I return this summer.

Riding a burro up Pico Duarte and spending the night there, mostly alone. I’d never before experienced a night so dark that I couldn’t see me hand in front of my face. So peaceful.

I can teach basic Spanish, or anything about English. I can cook almost anything. I can talk about hiking, mountain biking. Can share stories of teaching junior high school in the South Bronx or about my life as a punk in the 80s.

Not sure. I am mostly a quiet person, but don’t mind sharing stories or answering questions for the curious. I’m a really good listener. I can help you cook. Having raised two sons on a single mom budget, I can walk into any kitchen and whip up a meal out of anything.
