About Me

I am 21 years old, a 5th-year student at Bukovina State Medical University.

My childhood passed in a village near the Carpathian Mountains, so I love nature very much. I like to travel especially in interesting historical places. A significant part of my life is studying medicine - in the future, I want to become a surgeon. But I also love to read great books, listen to music and from time to time I like to watch movies and engaging in sports (running, swimming, biking, table tennis, basketball) on what I wrote below.

I treat myself critically, but I believe that I am reliable, diligent, tidy, with a good sense of humor and focused on doing tasks timely, self-motivated and energetic, qualitatively perform any job. Besides, enrolled in Ukrainian medical student association and Ukrainian Red Cross Society, which gave an opportunity to study medical support (First Aid) for people.

To meet new people to listen to their stories and tell them my stories and helping them as I can - is the real journey for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I started traveling and discovering new cities for me, I realized that that the best way to see the city and feel 100% its culture is to get know the people who live there. Of course, the possibility of free accommodation is also tempting but the interest to meet the exciting and interesting people is much larger.
See the country and culture on the inside of houses and apartments, talk with people about how they live there, what the city is interesting in, which institutions and cafes cannot see the tourists, namely the inhabitants of the city with their entertainments and talks.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really love Movies on real events, about biographies of people, and about how they changed the world. For example, The Theory of Everything (2014) directed by James Marsh, American documentary television series "Genius" about Albert Einstein, released on National Geographic.
The Leopard (1963 film) Directed by Luchino Visconti (and his other films)
Almost all of the films where Robin Williams plays, especially Dead Poets Society, Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, and Patch Adams.

My musical preferences have changed considerably, I would say evolved from pop music and rock to the jazz, classical composers, opera, and Italian (Neapolitan songs) and Ukrainian folk music. Although I'm listening to different music from time to time.
My favorite singers are Mario Del Monaco, Anatoly Solovyanenko, Muslim Magomaev, Pete Seeger, Placido Domingo, Edith Piaf, Louis Armstrong, Franco Corelli, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Frank Sinatra, Robin Williams.
My favorite composers are: Giacomo Puccini, Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Wagner, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Ennio Morricone, Glenn Gould, Hans Zimmer.

My literary preferences have changed over time. If in my childhood I was more fond of fiction, authors such as A. Dumas, R. Kipling, A. C. Doyle, M. Twain, N. Gogol, O. Henry. At the moment I like more non-fiction. I will list my favorite books:
"Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" ,
"What Do You Care What Other People Think?" by R. Feynman
The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin,
"The Prince" by Niccolò Machiavelli,
"The Republic" by Plato,
"My Life and Work" the autobiography of Henry Ford,
"Avoid Boring People: Lessons from a Life in Science" by James D. Watson,
"The Fountainhead", "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand

My favorite poets William Shakespeare, Hugh Auden, Mikhail Lermontov, Joseph Brodsky

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm pretty critical of myself, so do not think that I've done something extraordinary in life, but I really want that.
Studying at a medical university requires a lot of effort. For the opportunity to study free of charge I studied very carefully in school and spent a lot of time preparing for entrance exams. I have been receiving a scholarship every year at the university's rating system.
Also I conquered the highest peaks of the Carpathian Mountains, and this is over 2 thousand meters.
I'm good at playing sopilka, it's a Ukrainian wind instrument.
Especially I like to think about issues that are violated in the books I read. To form my own point of view and refine my argumentation.

Teach, Learn, Share

I do not know if it will be interesting, but as a student, I have the relevant knowledge and skills that I gladly list: during practicing in Medical University, as a student performed administratively and patient care works in different departments of city’s hospitals. Worked under the supervision of Medical Doctors to apply the theoretical knowledge and laboratory skills learned in the academic settings to the clinical settings. Worked with physicians, pediatricians, nurses, radiologist and medical assistants in order to learn how to give the right treatment for patients.
I also gladly discuss issues of society, general issues, and life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

All that I have listed in the paragraphs above, I am ready to share all my knowledge. Tell all that I know about Ukraine and about those cities and picturesque landscapes that I have seen. To share culture and traditions, I will even try to tell about our national humor.

Countries I’ve Visited

Greece, Macedonia, Poland, Romania
