About Me

I was born in California in 1964. My parents are from Lithuania. I moved there in 1997. I've also lived quite a few years in Chicago. Now I live in my home in the Lithuanian countryside and also with my parents in our capital city, Vilnius.

Since childhood, I've sought to know everything and apply that knowledge usefully. In 1982, I started work on a comprehensive philosophy. From 1998 to 2010, I organized Minciu Sodas, an open laboratory for independent thinkers around the world. In 2016, I started my career as a professional philosopher at VGTU in Lithuania. I have given a dozen talks on my philosophy in Lithuania, and now I'd like to do that throughout Europe. I think this will help me write up my thoughts as academic papers. Ultimately, I wish to foster a culture of learning, growing, living forever, here and now.

My deepest value is "living by truth". I believe in absolute truth. I seek to find it, but even if I can't, I try to live by it. I like to engage God, to work with God, and to imagine God's point of view. I seek a heart-to-heart culture where we help each other grow and are there for each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I learned about Hospitality Club and Couchsurfing from nomads Dante Gabryell-Monson and Markus Petz. I joined because I was traveling a lot while organizing independent thinkers for my online laboratory, Minciu Sodas.

I am traveling again because I am developing and establishing myself as a philosopher by giving talks at philosophy conferences. I appreciate being able to stay with people. This way I learn much more about people and places. I hope that my visit could be meaningful to those I meet and stay with.

I had great experiences staying with a host in Oaxaca.

Interests

I'm interested in philosophical questions. Currently: How do we behave? How should we behave?

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a great fan of Jesus and his Sermon on the Mount. I think Christopher Alexander with his "The Timeless Way of Building" is the Plato or Kant of our times. In 2016, I read Joyce's Ulysses and in 2017 I'm reading The Tale of Genji.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made a 10-minute video, "I Wish to Know", which describes what I think everything looks like from God's point of view.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm leading workshops on how to investigate any question.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a very deep thinker. I help others think, What is their deepest value in life? What is a question that they don't know the answer to, but wish to answer? How could they investigate that?

I have lots of stories about adventures organizing independent thinkers around the world, practicing nonviolent engagement, exploring all kinds of creativity. I can sing my own songs in Lithuanian and also gospel songs which I learned as a choir member at St.Benedict the African in Chicago.

I'm an excellent teacher of Math, English and other subjects.

I know many friendly people around the world with a wide variety of interests and expertise.

I'd gladly shop for food for meals and pay for all expenses.
