About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Teach to empower others. Learn and explore to empower myself.

ABOUT ME

I'm wandering through life, learning stuff, having fun, exploring different places..

My big passion is education. I teach people software development and build mobile and web apps. Before that I studied the human mind and mathematics.

I love to learn new stuff. I'm a big fan of online education and use several tools to learn as much as I can. I like to code, learn languages, listen to 80's music and house, speak Chinese, read novels and watch good movies. In summer you can often find me playing some football.

PHILOSOPHY

If you don't know where to go, many ways will bring you there. (My uncle once told me that..)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting people from all over the world, interacting with them and learning from them enriches my life every day. It helped me learn important life lessons and put the life I know from my youth into perspective. It helped me loose prejudices my society implanted into me and helped me become a critical citizen.

We humans are so similar and yet so interestingly different in many respects. It's so much fun to explore these subtleties!

While traveling, I always prefer to meet people, catch the rhythm of a place and learn about the views and culture of the locals over visiting tourist hot spots. Of course, there are however some magnificent things

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE & HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I had a few great couchsurfing experiences! Wonderful hosts made my experiences very special and had some great experiences and conversations! In China, for example, I happened to meet so many nice people who let me sleep at their places and showed me around in their hometowns. It was amazing!

In the past I hosted my Couch a little bit, but since I'm now on the go a lot I do it less. Whenever I settle down, I will make sure to often host Couchsurfers. It's such a lovely community.

Interests

I like to learn languages, be it spoken languages or programming languages ;-)
I used to play improv theatre and perform at poetry slams. Now I teach people stuff on science slams or other science communication events. I like to listen to great story tellers and good TED talks.

My favorite food? Avocado bread and

I also love singing under the shower, having an after-lunch nap when I can, making rhymes and trying to figure out how stuff in the world works.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movies are Doctor Shivago, Forest Gump and Paris, Texas of Wim Wenders.
The best series I've ever seen is Breaking Bad.
Three of the best books I have read so far are The Brothers Karamasow from Dostojewski, Demian from Hermann Hesse and Parlando from Bodo Kirchhoff

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn! It could be anything. New languages, views and yummy vegetarian recipies from all over the world.

I really like cooking dinner together and have some great chat while doing so. I can show you around town a bit if it's not a busy week and give you some tips on what you should see!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am always happy to share my knowledge of Chinese with others, because it is such a fun language to write, pronounce and speak!

I'm also into programming, math and science.. so the nerd in me really likes to talk about programming paradigms or physical phenomena or I love thinking about mathematical riddles and puzzles or philosophize about the functioning of the world.

I worked as Psychology researcher before and am a self-taught web- and mobile developer now. I love online education and if you might be interested in becoming a developer, I am very happy to share some tipps on how to learn this stuff fastest.
