Overview
About Me
I've just spent a year in the UK, working and visiting family, with a pretty long trip to Spain and Portugal over the summer. Getting a little homesick, and planning to return to New Zealand to finish my degree/generally resume my life in November, but hoping to see some more of Europe before I go.
I'm a very chilled-out person, with a big interest in live music (though I am a very poor musician!). I really love to draw, meet new people, find myself in cool / weird situations. I'm a big fan of hitch-hiking, beaches, homemade tattoos.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because it makes couchsurfing a lot easier! I've done some couchsurfing without social media, which has been a lot of fun, but tends to make me a little anxious, because it's very last-minute. Occasions include sleeping in a van in Bilbao with a cool electronic band, staying in a cool chess nerd/cycle courier squat, sleeping on the floor of an art gallery/cafe in Auckland.
I guess that aside, it's very life-affirming and beautiful that a community like this can exist, and I'm very happy to be a "part" of it?
Interests
really into tattoo (if you like, I will stick'n'poke you), live music, hiking and camping, visual art in a big way. I'm a pretty good cook, but a vegetarian one, so that necessarily limits my repertoire a bit.
I'm interested in New Zealand history, which is great, because it's what I'm studying, social theory, Aubrey Beardsley.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of NZ alternative music, and a lot of folk and punk music. Recently I went through a big stoner metal phase. I guess my favourite musical experiences have all been at festivals or house parties, though. Being in a room full of people all freaking out because of a killer solo is one of the best feelings.
Werner Herzog! Twin Peaks! Pretty much anything with Kevin Spacey in it! Wes Anderson.
. Lately I've been reading Borges, Nietzsche, Margaret Atwood, Foucault, Nabokov, Simone de Beauvoir (still gotta read her fiction, though). I've started on Freud's Interpretation of Dreams, but having a hard time taking it too seriously.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to learn things about your native cities/countries, citizens of couch surfing! I can show you how to bake a loaf of bread, make a tattoo needle with a pencil, teach you about New Zealand (mostly this involves never wearing shoes). In Spain I got pretty good at making campfires, so I guess that's an option.
I'm not the best storyteller, but I'd be happy to tell you stories about hitching and being voluntarily homeless while on holiday.
What I Can Share with Hosts
All of my things! I think drawing your portrait (this is something I'm not very good at doing, but enthusiastic, and want to improve) would be the most heartfelt way to repay your generosity.
