I am an English Literature teacher with a Master's degree in English literature and currently studying education. I teach English in China full time. I enjoy socialising and meeting new people. I used Couchsurfing before when traveling in South America and South East Asia and was fortunate enough to meet some very cool people. Now I'm hoping to use it while on holiday in Japan.

As above, for traveling and meeting people. I think you form deeper connections and get to know places better than compared to using hostels or hotels.
