About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I enjoy hosting other couchsurfers to show them a different side of the place I live. I'm also grateful for the amazing generosity of the hosts who have received me in the past. I'm glad to be a part of a community that helps people see more of the world and dissolve the borders that separate us from each other. One important thing that traveling has taught me is that more important than the places I've been are the people I've met.
Interests
I'm a drummer/percussionist, and play a little guitar and piano. I love to listen to and make music.
Language learning is another passion of mine. I already speak English and Spanish. I'm currently learning French and hope to study Japanese in the near future.
I try to practice mindfulness.
I like to hike and get lost in nature every once in a while.
I love reading, especially literature from the places I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Lately I've been listening to a ton of jazz and salsa. Though some of my favorite bands over the years have been Tool, Gojira, Meshuggah, St. Vincent, The Mars Volta, Jimi Hendrix, Lamb of God, Die Antwoord, John Coltrane, The Sword, Rage Against the Machine, Puscifer... It's impossible to list all the bands and genres. There's too much great music in the world!
Movies: Mulholland Drive, Enter the Void, Memento, The Holy Mountain. Anything by David Lynch, Gaspar Noé.
Books: Metamorphosis, Crónica de una muerte anunciada, Wind-up Bird Chronicle, Tao Te Ching, Outliers, Phantoms in the Brain, Guns Germs and Steel, A Brief History of Time, Upanishads, L'étranger, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler, Don Quijote.
Authors: Haruki Murakami, Gabriel García Márquez, Franz Kafka, Albert Camus
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travel on a cargo boat on the Amazon River.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can help each other learn languages. I can help you with English and Spanish, and I would love to practice my French or Japanese. I can teach you about drumming and music. In college I studied psychology, math, and computer science, and I love talking about all kinds of things from science and philosophy. I love learning about food from different cultures and would be happy to share recipes I have learned both at home and in my travels.
