About Me

I'm a self employed musician and sound engineer and Mancunian born and bred. Very relaxed and easy going, just enjoying life and trying to travel as much as possible. I play balafon which is a west african xylophone and I live and breathe music, it's literally all that I do! So, if i stay with you or you stay with me I can guarantee that music will happen in some respect. If we're in manchester I will take you to a great local gig (the kinds that my friends play in local bars not the kinds that you buy tickets for!) and if we're in another place hopefully I will have an instrument with me and can play you something or we can jam together! I like to cook, stay active, learn as much as I can about anything, try new languages, meet new people and keep my mind as open as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am going to be in lyon for 2 weeks in april so I thought I would join this site and hopefully make a new friend, find a place to stay and make my experience all the better for it. I have never couch surfed before or had a couch surfer in my home but I want to embrace the experience and get involved with the community no I'm here. Seems like a really great way to experience a destination. Hopefully someone will help me with a place to stay in Lyon and then afterwards I can offer my home to someone else in manchester!

Music, Movies, and Books

soul, "world"music, folk, funk, hip hop, neo soul, loads of stuff really, it's impossible to write it all. I just love music in so many of it's forms. The best music to me is the music I have never heard before! The most amazing experiences of music I have had have all been acoustic and in places that are far from home...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a month out in a rural area of senegal studying djembe with no electricity or running water. Stayed in a house in gambia with 25 people where everybody played balafon (african xylophone). Attended a funeral procession in Sudan with the dervish people.
