About Me

Used to live in New Orleans and had a great time hosting couchsurfers, but now I've been kind of adrift myself. Quite literally as I've been working on ships. I'm a commie leftist, so let's get that out of the way first. Hosting guests (or being one) from other parts of the globe is something I could never regret doing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hospitality's kind of my thing--there's a reason I've worked in hotels for so long. For a good while, I was able to travel significantly less than I'd preferred, so it was awesome to be able to meet fellow travelers without having to leave home. When I do get out to travel, I attempt to interact more with residents than tourists and employees (nothing against tourists and employees--I am both of those things, after all). Considering I can fix supper for a marvelous host for what amounts to pennies when compared to more traditional accommodations, you can't argue with the economy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy them. The Babadook is my recent favorite... I really like Patrick Ness, as well. Also I should state that Clive Barker is my homie

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching a half-frozen ocean break into deep blue fractals, all slowly waving as one organism, and gently keeping shape under a bright orange sky reflecting on the ice mirrors below. This might have ruined me for real life. Happened while i was sailing the Arctic, and yes I do have a video somewhere, if I can only find it

Teach, Learn, Share

I play Pass The Pigs more than any man has a right to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I strive to always be courteous, joyful, and at least a little fun. I'm a firm believer in leaving a place more comfortable than you found it.

I am a professional cook. I share this skill freely.

Also, lots and lots of sea stories.
