About Me

I'm an aspiring journalist who's travelling Australia to cover the Asian Cup football (or soccer depending on your nationality :-) ) looking to meet new people and enjoy all the great sights and sounds of Straya.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet new people and establish friendships in all the new places I'm travelling to.

Interests

I play the guitar, banjo and ukulele and love almost any form of music. I used to busk in Scotland and love to play music to unwind.

I write mostly about sport in my journalism and football (sawker) in particular. I'm from Glasgow and love Rangers, but having watched European football growing up, I've developed a love of Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and AC Milan.

I love languages and especially like to try any language of the country I'm visiting

Music, Movies, and Books

I love John Martyn, the Glaswegian singer-songwriter, but will listen to anything. I love most classical music as well as the great British and American rockers from the 60's and 70's.

I love Comedies mostly when it comes to Movies and I do love Blazing Saddles, directed by Mel Brooks. I love British comedies as well and a good documentary is always interesting to watch. I also love French Cinéma, from the darker subject matter like La Haine, with Vincent Cassel and La Ville est Tranquille, to the silly types of comedy, like Le Bonheur est dans le pré, with Eric Cantona, and L'Auberge Espangole, set in an Erasmus flat in Barcelona.

I love to watch stand up comedy and my favourites include Billy Connolly, George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Louis CK and many others.

I prefer to read historical books and love the writings of Christopher Hitchens

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked from Glasgow to London with two friends of mine, which took us a day and a half, with 5 lifts in total.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love debate on any and every subject and I feel it's great to hear someone's opposing point of view to your own as it keeps you sharp and allows you to develop your own argument further.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I also play the guitar and sing and can help teach music to anyone I stay with.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
