About Me

For starters better call me "Andreas" that's how my name sounds in Greek

I am 25, currently a student but i'm looking forward to start working in the next year all around the world to see as much of the world and interact with as many people i can! I really hope that one day i will have at least one friend from every country in the world!

In order to achieve that a couple of years ago i became a member of AIESEC and met some amazing people, that recalibrated my way of thinking. I spent a semester away, on a student exchange in Switzerland, which further pushed my mind to a much broader perspective, and got me to contemplate new ways of living... Now, here i am, travelling again on my own, learning new things and trying to see the world and its wonders!!!

Besides people, most of my travelling inspirations are to learn about traditional food, beverages, architecture and living practices. Should it be a city/village: visit during a festival, roam the streets to appreciate local architecture and see how people spend their days&nights! Should it be nature: hike to the top of a mountain, feel the forest, appreciate a view, swim to a secluded lake or a river!

Currently i live with my whole family, so there isn't much space to host but as soon as i get my degree and move out i would certainly have a couch for you guys ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

People is a way better part of a city than just its monuments and streets, Couchsurfing is one of the ways to find open minded people, who are interested in meeting travelers coming from every corner of the world!

What i would like is to hear other peoples experience from hosting/meeting people; travelling, as well as connect with other peoples culture, while expressing mine!

Interests

Being an engineer i am curious about how things work. This conversation might get very far, from how buildings are made to how a country's health system works, even to why food is preapared in a certain way and not in another.
I usually ask a lot of questions if i find a patient enough person on the opposite side, so be prepared!

I really like food (most of my trip visits are focused around local food) while unfortunately im only a decent cook, i really enjoy beer and wine and want to learn everything about it.

While being an engineer i am into art, some forms of them. Architecture is another interest of my trips, photography (for some people it is an art), a little bit about painting (and less about sculpturing), in Athens i usually go to the theater, and ofcourse cinema and music.

During Summer you would most likely find me swimming in rivers, lakes and large distances in the sea and sometimes hiking, so im open to all those kinds of invites should someone has something planned.

Music, Movies, and Books

I cant really make a list of favorite things sorry...

Music - I can listen to all kinds of music depending on what my company is up to. When i am alone depending on what my mood is you would most likely find me listening to post rock, jazz and sometimes classics.

Movies - i count a decent ~1000 movie watchlist in IMDB and i like to watch all kinds of movies as well as a bunch of series! Usually, by myself i enjoy watching simple fantasy/sci-fi/animation movies, but when with company i would like to watch movies with a deeper idea that requires talking about it, this could include drama/biography/war/mystery/thriller and always a good old classic. What i watch rarely is horror movies.

Books - While i have a big bookcase i always buy books that i want to read or gladly receive books as gifts, but lately i never spend time in reading them... I enjoy reading about fantasy, history novels and I always try to read a few classics: so far Camus, Hesse and Hemingway have found a spot in this small list

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me an amazing thing is something that it made me feel different than usual, so here's something for you:

having volonteered in AIESEC. I worked hard to open some internship positions for any international intern who was up to the task. When finally the guys arrived and started working i felt redemption, i felt really great that with my work some people could make a small dream reality.
Also, that summer i met an intern who has lived in a country with no acces to the sea and he have never swimmed in a pool either. When we went to the beach and i learnt that he didnt know how to swim, i did my best spending time with him trying to help him learn. What seemed obvious to me was a mountain of work for someone else and i just had to help him...

Teach, Learn, Share

I always willing to teach people a various of things. That would include things i know about my univeristy degree (maths, physics, chemistry, etc) to anyone who is interested to learn greek or some traditional greek "cooking" like the moussaka :)
As i mentioned i am curious about how most things work, so whatever is offered is welcome!!
