Overview
About Me
Hey, my name is Andy. I’m in my mid thirties and I love to travel. I’m honest, respectful and eager to see as much of the world and meet the people who inhabit it. I love meeting people from different walks of life and sharing stories about culture and tradition. I live in Manchester, UK with my boyfriend. I’m gay, which isnt a big deal but I think it’s important to let people know so if my lifestyle offends anyone, they know upfront.
I’m not a massive extrovert and I guess I can be a little shy at first but it doesn’t get in the way of making great friendships with all different types of people.
I enjoy having a quiet few beers and getting to know people and likewise I can also enjoy hitting the bars.
To any future hosts, I like to emulate what you prefer to do. If you want something quiet and initiate, that’s cool. If you prefer more lively then I’m down with that too. Most important thing to me is trying to make the host feel comfortable and respected.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I never realised until recently that this amazing community existed. A community built on respect, mutual love of travel, kindness and want for learning, I think it’s beautiful!
Interests
My biggest interest is travel. When I’m not actually travelling, I’m pretty much either planning a trip or dreaming up my next one. Other than travel, I enjoy watching movies and football. I also enjoy photography, I'm just not very good at it! I'm learning Spanish and I'm taking it pretty seriously. I love to practice with native speakers.

Music, Movies, and Books
In terms of movies, I like varied in terms of genre. I just don’t like the heavy commercialised action film type movies. Some of my fave films below;
City of God
Old Boy
Lost in Translation
Brotherhood
Tale of Two Sisters
Battle Royale
Trainspotting
Children of Men
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I solo travelled Asia for 3 months in 2017 which was the most amazing thing I’ve done. It was the first time I’d ever ventured out by myself and I loved every second of it. Favourite places were Thailand, Myanmar and South Korea.
There are so many positives to travelling solo which I didn’t realise before I tried it. I’m an early bird so I like to wake up early and explore places before the crowds arrive which I struggle to do when with either the boyfriend or friends. Although, travelling with the boyfriend is cool too but for different reasons 👬
Teach, Learn, Share
I don’t have a lot to teach but I appreciate history, politics and pop culture so good conversation hopefully.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation, respect, eagerness to learn about your customs and culture. I like to think I’m good in the kitchen too so maybe we could learn of eachother. I’d love to show people around Manchester, grab some food or beers. Also happy to meet people and show them around Liverpool, which is my home city and more people should visit when they come to the UK.
