About Me

Hey guys and gals! I'm a 34 year old who loves to meet new people, to travel and to experience new things...I just recently set up a snowboard filming business in the Alps to combine my passion for snowsports, filming, photography and music - I just got back from my first season out there and am now looking to travel as much as I can and spread the silent vibes of the mountains :)

As well as snowboarding I'm really into slacklining (just tried my first highline recently which was amazing!) and also I love to play music - mostly guitar, djembe, kora, and my new sweetheart hang drum (I named her Jyoti ;)). I usually travel carrying way too many instruments as I really enjoy jamming with new people...my hang drum Jyoti comes everywhere with me just incase there's a sunny day to chill in the park and spread her beautiful mellow tones.

Beyond all this I've been practicing yoga and meditation for the past 6 years having spent a long time in an ashram in South India with an enlightened master, and having some wild experiences along the way! I'm always happy and willing to talk about spirituality with people as long as it doesn't bore them to death - if it does then I'm happy to avoid it (I can ramble on for hours haha).

All in all, I'm an easy going cat who always enjoys people's company, to experience new places and sounds, and to muse over the beautiful mystery of life and existence...hope to meet you soon!

With love x

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people and to experience new places without being stuck somewhere far away in some soulless and characterless hotel...it's all about being in the action and living in a real way which is true to the place. Always great to get the 'insider knowledge' of the best things to see and do!

Interests

Too many to name really, I'm interested in most things!! But I suppose I spend most of my time playing / listening to music and being outdoors exploring places (preferably snowboarding or slacklining!). I'm also interested in photography and videography in a big way, especially in the mountains...

Music, Movies, and Books

Aaaah man, always such a difficult question...so I love many forms of music but my real passions are African music (particularly Saharan origin) and other 'world music' especially Indian and Middle Eastern; the blues - from modern players like Joe Bonnamassa and Stevie Ray Vaughan, right back to Son House and Blind Willie Johnson; acoustic singer-songwriters like Nick Drake and Jose Gonzalez; soul and gospel music; and, more recently, I've been delving into Electronica, especially Chillstep and House...

Movies are always tough to nail down too! Huge fan of the Coen brothers, Wes Andersen, and Bong Joon-Ho - also partial to the crazy comedies from Judd Apatow...too many favourites to name individually, I like anything unusual and funny.

I read a lot of different kinds but in the last few years it's mostly the words and stories of the Eastern masters with a dash of Haiku poetry thrown in...I also seem to have developed an unusual fascination with ancient cultures like the Mayans and the Dravidians, and enjoy understanding (or trying to understand) economic theory, and advances in modern scientific understanding.
