About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy and Explore

ABOUT ME

I'm an adventurous, yet responsible guy who worked hard through Uni to save up money to travel the world, is finally getting to do it! I am looking forward to leaving my comfort zone, trying new experiences, learning things I didn't know I didn't know, and enjoying my time on this awesome planet.

I grew up in countryside, near the mountains in central Virginia. Because of this, I'm always more relaxed outdoors, and will go for a hike anytime. After I finished my university studies I started to travel with the intention of just spending one year and then getting a job. That was more than one year ago :)
*2018 Update - 2 years of travel, followed my 4 years of work, followed by 1 year of travel, getting to the end of that year now...
*2025 Update - Wow, how do you make time slow down a little bit? I can't believe my first adventures were over a decade ago now. Still travelling when I can and it's still the only thing I know I want to be doing. If anyone has advice for figuring out a life, please let me know.

I'm a very easy going, open minded guy that enjoys having fun spontaneous adventures. I enjoy going out, but I will take having a conversation and a few beers over going to a loud venue every time. I'm not a quiet person but I don't talk for the sake of talking.

PHILOSOPHY

Do the right thing.

Life is short, make the most of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had the privilege of surfing all over the world and have had an amazing experience so far. The continuous goodbyes are hard, but the people I've been honored to meet have really what have made my trips what they are. Sights and food are nice, but people are almost always better. I've been able to a host a few people (not many people come to my area) but I've enjoyed them all. Been able to do several second meetups with people I've met through CS including a month long US roadtrip with a guy that hosted me in Austria, was able to surf in Belgium with couchsurfer I hosted, and celebrating Chinese New Year in Malaysia with a girl that hosted me in Australia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed all around the world and each time has been fun, positive, but still unique. Everything has turned out better than I thought, and I am continuously and pleasantly surprised with my experiences along the road.

Interests

Too many to count but here a just a few highlights
Nature - I like trees, mountains, animals, wind, some rocks are nice too
Photography - My avenue to be creative and I'll stay in one place for as long as needed getting a shot right
Travel - The only thing I know I want to be doing
Sports - Football (not the american one, I follow Valencia :( and Chelsea :) and they balance each other out), Tennis, Running, and I'm more than willing to play any sport, I love to be active!
Good Discussions - I love to think, and thoroughly enjoy any opportunity to have a discussion that challenges me to think differently. Some of my best couchsurfing experiences have been nothing more than just staying up late talking about awesome topics like trying to comprehend infinite time.
Board Games-I will play any game, anytime, anywhere. I may be a little competitive from time to time. Please introduce me to your favorite game! Favorite game at the moment: Pandemic

No idea how to choose
Wandering the paths in Alhambra at sunrise
Backpacking along the ridgeline looking down at the clouds near Mt. Washington
Seeing a computer generated model of our entire observable universe for the first time
Sneaking into the world's only 7-star hotel (though when I was in Fiji, I discovered there is now another 7-star hotel)
Scuba diving on the rainbow reef in Fiji
Rocksurfed down Mt. Doom (twice now!)
Hiking alone into the desert in hopes of a good canyon view, and finding it!
Seen 3 eclipses

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach photography, if you have a camera and you don't know how to properly use it, I can show you how and explain why very easily.
