I'm a avid traveller and have backpacked through much of South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. I love the outdoors - playing sport, hiking, the beach. I work in media relations.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to get away from hostels and meet some real locals to get a different perspective on how people live their lives in the countries I'm visiting. The hospitality I've received across the world has been incredibly overwhelming and I'd like to return the favour to those visiting Australia once I've returned home.

I love it! It has been such a good way to meet local people and make new friends, and I've really enjoyed each host I've ever had!

Interests

I love traveling! I also loved my job; playing lots of sport; going to bars; meeting other travelers and hearing their stories; reading; listening to music; singing karaoke (I'm terrible); cooking; writing - there are so many things that interest me, and many of them I've only started enjoying since I began traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in movies is quite random and embrassing- I like war movies such as Platoon and Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator, comedy flicks, sports movies, School of Rock (for real), Leonardo DiCaprio and Denzel Washington films, Pixar films, Into the Wild, In Bruges, Quentin Tarantino films- I will pretty much watch anything recommended to me.
As for music, I like listening to house music if I'm going out on a weekend but most of the time I listen to acoustic tracks, covers, Angus and Julia Stone, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd, Bob Marley, The Killers, Artic Monkeys, old school tunes (thanks to Dad).
I read lots of crime novels and autobiographies. I loved Andre Agassi's and Jim Stynes' (an Irishman and former Australian footballer), my absolute favourite book is Shadow of the Wind. I read the Great Gatsby a dozen times at school and still love it. Also, On the Road by Jack Kerouac- I was told by so many people I've met traveling to read it so I did and loved it and recommend it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I can offer people the chance to view life from a different perspective- sometimes I can be a little crazy or do stupid things, whether it's just for a rush to get a good photo but I also think it goes both ways, and people can show me their values and lifestyle.
I love hearing about mundane things, whether it's how you complete your job or how the education system differs in your country compared to mine. I love to cook and I think it's a great way to spend time with people- if you have a recipe you want to teach me, go for it.
I probably don't have any special skills but Couchsurfing for me is learning about how other people go about their lives and just sharing lots of stories and life experiences. Everyone has something interesting to say so I want to hear it!
