About Me

Currently Residing in Shenzhen, China (Chikiti China) :)

HEY GUYS!! SO, I'll try to write as much as I can about myself so you can get a feel for who I am, and who you may very well be hosting in the near future, haha.

My family moved around a lot, enough to get me into the atmosphere of consistent change. My brothers had it hardest because they were already settled into their schools with their friends when the moving started: Colombia (Cali, Bogotá), Mexico (D.F.), Guatemala City, etc. Now, living in China (Shenzhen mostly) but did live briefly in Panama City, Brasil (Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Rio de Janeiro)... Right now, I'm in China, as mentioned at the start of this bio.

Well, basically, to sum up, my family taught me to love traveling. Recently, I've started to branch out and travel more on solo trips than before. I was more focused on my career (writing), I like cooking (definitely a plus for my hosts). I used to be a professional cook, actually, but after working the usual 12-hour/day schedule I decided to say f*ck it... haha, never again! Anywho, I'm also a fun guy to share a beer and laughs with you or be quiet and polite in my room when you want peace :) (which we all need at times). I am forever grateful to those who lend me their couch. Namaste.

I'd love to hear about your story and your little pearls of wisdom. Cheers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What's not to like? I love everything about it. Travelers helping travelers travel, does that make sense? An entire community dedicated to helping others is awesome, travelers now but in the future could be a wider scale.

I originally learned about couch surfing while living with my brother in China, he was a host and while I was crashing in his spare room, our sofa was home to people from all over: Mongolia, Canada, Alaska, Oregon, Colombia, New York, and so many others (including a few close friends that had a few too many drinks, hahaha).

Each 'surfer' taught us something new and that was enough for me to love Couchsurfing. Every new person is a book waiting to be read and I... am an avid reader ;)

Interests

Writing, cooking, eating, traveling, all arts basically (painting, reading, dancing, living). People, people, people... you know how real-estate moguls will say it's all about location, location, location? Well, I sincerely believe life is all about people. The people we meet, the people we help and that help us, and the strangers we pass by and only ever share a glance and never see them again... magical. Oh! And I love animals, so if your home has a pupper or a meow'r you can guarantee you'll lose me to them and I'll be their best friend for the rest of my visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music? Off the top of my head... Franz Ferdinand, Frank Sinatra, Blink 182, Bob Marley, Queen, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Buena Vista Social Club, Red hot chili peppers, Aerosmith, maná, Cafe Tacuba, Vicente Fernandez, Aventura, Romeo Santos, Don Omar, Santana, Buddha Bar, anything jazzy, rhythmic, danceable, or new that you're showing me. I'm actually pretty easy with music. Tbh though, most of my time is spent listening to smooth jazz or lofi hip-hop while I work, lol.

Movies? I f*cking love movies... it's my guilty pleasure. Chocolates? Ice cream? Junk food? Sure, that stuff is fine... but show me an awesome movie I haven't seen yet... dude.

Books?! Mostly self-help or other non-fiction skill learning books. I, sadly, don't delve into novels as much as I should. But if you have awesome books on your computer, you'll be getting a USB and a grin from me... nudge, nudge, wink, wink... gimme dem books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Uh... Hmm... I, uh... Oh! Oh! No, wait, that wasn't THAT cool... maybe... no, that sounds lame... oh, I know, well, I interned at the 4th best restaurant in the world one time. DOM, with chef Alex Atala... that was a pretty cool, and a very humbling experience. So, yeah, that'll be my thing for this section. Phew, thought I wouldn't have anything. Got a little nervous there for a second.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't really know what to put in this section, like, try to teach you something as you're reading this page (assuming you've read this far)? Like a fun fact? I'm going to assume it's a fun fact type of thing... Well, I'm not sure if this is 100% true, but I love to believe it is, you know those black cards that banks give? Jerry Seinfeld invented those, in a way. He was shooting a commercial for American Express (I believe) and asked for his card in the commercial to be black because he liked the color. Some guy from the crew told him there was a legend that only three people in the world had a black American Express card, some Saudi Prince, the CEO of AmEx, and some other guy (I wasn't paying attention). Jerry, intrigued, called the CEO of AmEx to ask him (because he's f*cking Jerry Seinfeld and, of course, he knows the CEO) and the guy told him it was an urban legend... but Jerry wanted one, and he got one, and now it's a thing. So, yeah... you're welcome.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, a meal, contacts of places they might be traveling to in the future and may need a place to crash... I dunno, I'm a relatively friendly guy, happy to share stuff... unless it's like underwear or something gross like that. We have to have boundaries guys... like, I know we all like to travel, but c'mon, let's keep a little of the magic, y'know?

Countries I’ve Visited
