Overview
About Me
I have lived my whole life in California, although I've traveled all over the world, and I went to school in Southern California...which is pretty far away!
I love dogs, nature, outdoors, learning, gadgets. I used to be a computer engineer, but now I may be retired. We'll see. I worked hard for a while, but I realize how lucky I am to be able to choose retirement.
I try to make the best of it with stuff like giving presentations to school kids about honeybees and being a good friend.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I enjoy good company more than anything. I'm interested in couchsurfing to meet people. And I find it allows me to do a little vicarius traveling by hearing about traveling from visitors.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: The Shins (especially the The Shins station on Pandora), Green Day, the Lumineers, Led Zeppelin, recently Ed Sheeran and Vampire Weekend.
Garden State (partially because it has a lot of music by The Shins). Raising Arizona, my first love. Love Actually, the sweetest movie ever.
Books: I read a lot of science fiction. I probably have read or have an opinion on any science fiction or fantasy book you can think of. http://www.galactanet.com/oneoff/meetingsarah.html
For nonfiction, I made some life changes after reading Michael Pollan's books. And I love books like Freakanomics: using science and math to understand things in new ways.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I collect swarms of honeybees when they appear in people's backyards. I've collected over 100 bee swarms and relocated a dozen or more hives since I've been doing it. I am listed as a swarm collector by my local bee guild, of which I am the co-chair of the education committee! I occasionally give talks on bees to kids and adults.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to share knowledge about beekeeping, home brewing, raising chickens, hydroponics, aquaponics, gardening, and similar pursuits.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm good at fixing things and can do lots of repairs around the house.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Australia, Canada, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan
