ABOUT ME

Hello there, my name is Andy.

I write, record and play my own music. Something that you definitely should know is that I am addicted to three things: Music, Coffee, and Traveling. These three things (along with my amazing girlfriend Emily) have lead me around the world. Well, coffee didn't exactly lead me around the world, but it definitely was a worthy companion along the way!

I studied abroad in Leeds, England in 2010 and backpacked through 16 different European countries. During my travels I realized that the more countries I saw, the more places I needed to see -- What an experience that was!

I graduated in 2011 from UC Berkeley with degrees in Cognitive Science and Music and since then I made the decision to devote my life to my music, something I dreamt of doing since I was a little kid.

I have released two full length albums and my music has been featured on a variety radio stations throughout the country, and I have gotten the opportunity to share the stage with some amazing artists like Ernie Halter, Jason Reeves, Amber Rubarth and Grammy nominated guitarist Alex DeGrassi. Throughout the last year and a half, I have performed in many iconic venues up and down the the west coast, including Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA and The Alberta Rose Theater in Portland, OR (my favorites)!

I am obsessed with playing house concerts. There is something about them-- the intimacy, the warmth, the people! Every once in awhile I go on what a friend of mine coined a 'couch concert tour' where I offer to play an acoustic concert to those kind enough to let me 'surf' on their couch! :)

PHILOSOPHY

I think that what life really comes down to in the end is happiness. Everyone has a different path to happiness-- the path to happiness could be through love, friends, success, family-- virtually anything! I love life and I am so lucky to have amazing friends and family around me to support me while I'm living out my dream. I have so many amazing things that make me happy like music, love, friends and my family.

Oh, and I definitely believe in karma-- if you do good things and treat others well, good things will come to you as well. There is a definite sense and necessity of balance in this Universe.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A good friend told me about couch surfing in 2010 while I was backpacking across Europe, and I am excited to have been a part of it for over a year now!

Looking for a place to crash? -- I have a fairly large L-shaped couch that can fit one comfortably and possibly two (if you and your fellow traveller are willing to get a little cozy).

Music, Movies, and Books

'The Shawshank Redemption' in my opinion is the best movie ever made. Also there's something about 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' that definitely push those into my top 3.

If you don't already know, I'm obsessed with music and could literally make a five page list of artists I love, but here are some of my absolute favorites: John Mayer, Amos Lee, Damien Rice, James Taylor, Ray LaMontagne, Eric Clapton, The Black Keys, Muse, The Script, & OneRepublic

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to play music (interested in the guitar, voice, piano, bass, or saxophone?). I got my degree in Cognitive Science, so I would love to teach/learn more about the brain and our thoughts! Also, food is such an integral part of a culture, and I love to cook but would love to learn to cook food from different parts of the world!
