About Me

Hello!
My name is Andy, I'm a chemist almost through with a PhD in biology. I like meeting people from all over the world, getting to know their cultures and sharing time. I like being outdoors, listening to music, having a beer.
I like traveling, trying to keep off the beaten path, and following streams into adventures. Going into the countryside, talking with random people. Then I feel I'm getting to know the place!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and meeting locals is the best way to reach unexpected places, jazz bars, spots. I like doing the same at my home place, and when you share it with a traveller it almost seems like you are abroad to!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Jazz, rock, blues, folkore, ethnic, etc.... but specially live music makes the difference. Buenos Aires has an every-day schedule for concerts and jam sessions!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Took an 8h boat trip in Cambodia between Siam Reap and Battambang, through a river and a swamp where floating villages along the river was the way of life. We were allowed to stay on the roof of the boat, great view, a couple of fresh beers, sunbathing and making friends!! Well, not so great when the sudden rain came in, but anyway, it was really hot.

Next day, with 2 friends we met on the boat we asked a tuk-tuk to take us somewhere special. After recommending the only two attractions listed in the Lonely Planet, with our rejection, he took us to some hoaging bridge nearby and told us to cross the bridge and have a walk in the fishermens village. So we did and we started following the sound of loud music. We finally arrived to a party to which we were invited in body language, were sat in the table with school children and fed a variety of delicious home made dishes; fish, and chicken and rice, delicious flavours!! Had a great conversation with the schoolchildren to whom three caucasians sitting at their table was a constant laugh, either in english or in cambodian (we preffered to asume it was laughing with and not laughing at....). At one point, the children asked to take my camera and took a complete photo set of the meeting.

Eventually we met a woman who could speak english and we had a very interesting conversation: the music, food and dancing turned out to be a funeral!!!!! It was her nephews, and she had come all the way from the US where she lived for the last 40 years to attend the funeral.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share anything! I am very opened minded and love doing new things!! Going to rock concerts, jazz bars, music houses.
I like theater, photography and almost any cultural activity.
We can share a nice chat with a beer or two, a walk in a park.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Cambodia, Chile, Ecuador, Germany, Spain, Uruguay
