ABOUT ME

I am a positive person who believes in treating others with respect. I prefer to be socially responsible, my politics are based on compassion and social justice, and I strive to be environmentally aware. Life should be less about material possessions and more about experiences, relationships and social interactions.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in living an active energetic lifestyle. I also believe we need to tread lightly and leave liveable communities for future generations.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am interested in sharing my home town and entire area. I know many great places to visit and beautiful natural areas. I would also like to travel and meet new people and experience new cultures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I rented a bedroom in a private residence in Vancouver for the Winter Olympics while the owners went to Mexico. I have hosted a couple of times but have not yet used CS while traveling. I have used AirBNB a number of times and always had good experiences and reviews.

兴趣

I am interested in urban form and how cities are designed. When traveling I try to see how a city's land use , transportation system and utilities are designed. I also like wilderness travel both by canoe and hiking. I'm also a baseball fanatic traveling to see different stadiums across the US and Canada.

Musically, I prefer rock, folk, blues and some southern rock. Books - I like a mix of fiction and non fiction, my favorites are adventure travel and exploration books. Movies - mostly comedies and mysteries.

Our canoe party pulled three unfortunate canoeists who had capsized out of a border country lake a few weeks after ice out in 2001.

I possess a extensive amount of experience traveling through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico Provincial Park in northern Minnesota and southern Ontario. I am willing to share favorite lakes, location of great campsites and some secret fishing holes.
