ABOUT ME
This is something that should be decided by others, not by me. Thus I will soon provide a list of quotes about myself from the great to the downright despicable, that have appeared in both print and over the air waves.
PHILOSOPHY
Why do I live my life? Because to end it would really upset my Mum.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just surfed occaisonally on my travels and been to the odd meeting in Buenos Aires and Brisbane. Hoping to be able to host a few people soon as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I think the help I got from some couch surfers in Buenos Aires when I got my wallet and all its contents nicked on my second day there, was particularly touching and showed what's best about CS.
Interests
Reading and music (see below), football (playing and watching), cricket (certainly not playing), politics, crocodiles, current affairs, language, listening to the radio, beer, pubs, laughing, comedy, learning, generally wandering about and looking at things, museums and art galleries, hiking/trekking, discussing all of the above and any number of other subjects ranging from the life changing to the mundane. Oh yeah and travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - tend to go for rock/alternative and fond of singer songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Bob Dylan. Other bands/artists I like are RATM, Thin Lizzy, The Smiths/Morrissey, Fleet Foxes, Whitesnake, System of a Down, PJ Harvey, Led Zep, The Invisible, Arcade Fire, White Stripes, Jeff Buckley, Rainbow, Nick Cave, etc, etc.
Books - read a lot of Gore Vidal. Other authors that I'm into include Dickens, Dostoevsky, Martin Amis, Primo Levi, Ben Okri, Cervantes, Marquez, etc. Tending to read a lot of factual stuff at the moment, such as a work on the 'scramble for Africa' in the late 19th century and Robert Fisk's incredible and mammoth journalistic memoirs.
Movies - complete cinematic philistine largely because I find it difficult to sit down and relax for an hour and a half plus. I did watch the Wrestler though a few years back, which I thought superb and was delighted to hear the German rock classic "Balls to the Wall" on the soundtrack. Jacob's Ladder is my favourite film of all time. Oh and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was bloody good as well.
In all fairness I did watch 6 (count them 6!) films at the Buenos Aires film festival while I was there in 2009 and thus can no longer consider myself a true cinematic philistine. Obviously.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've wrestled with former US vice president Dan Quayle and have had goats sacrificed in my honour by several heads of state.
