About Me
CURRENT MISSION
see the world and enjoy myself while i'm at it.
ABOUT ME
I'm from a village in the midlands of England but have lived in Yorkshire for the last 15 years when I went to University there. After graduating, I fell into a career (loose usage of the word!) in computing (Unix servers) as a systems administrator looking after E-learning systems for the university I studied at, then at Leeds. I've lived in the city for 7 years and got the chance to leave and travel earlier this year, which I took. I've been to China and Taiwan since leaving work and am currently on the second (longer) leg of the trip taking in Canada, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand.
I like meeting people and enjoying other people's company and talking. Travelling throws lots of interesting people in your path.
I like to be active, see stuff and do things, but can just as easily sit on a beach for hours (or days) on end or take in a view. I can be serious or stupid. Go see a film or go get drunk in a bar, or both.
PHILOSOPHY
Try to be good!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music taste: last.fm/user/andyr0ck
Films: too numerous to list!
Books (mainly sci-fi (but not limited to)): Philip K. Dick, Iain M. Banks, Asimov's robots, Philip Larkin.
In all three, I'll give anything a try, really.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing Mt Fuji at night from station 5 (i know, next time i'll do it all). The most amazing views of the stars, the country and then sunrise I've ever seen. Truly humbling... and bloody cold!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love meeting people from different countries. As I travel more, I'm seeing the differences in the way we live but also how similar we are in a lot of ways. There's always something to learn from each other!
