About Me
CURRENT MISSION
holding down the home fort, preparing for a next step
ABOUT ME
I recently moved from my home state of Wisconsin to the great NY of C, specifically Brooklyn. I'm a former archaeologist trying to steer my career away from academia towards the rest of the job market. Aside from subsiding, I've been known to eat, drink and be merry. I enjoy consuming and talking about beer, listening to and making music (if bassists count as musicians [trick question: they do]) and a myriad of other activities that suit my fancy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Our couch/living room is potentially available for 1-2 guests - advanced notice is obviously appreciated. I've not had any hang-outs requested via this interaction contraption, but I could see that being a good time.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
While in Europe years ago I only attempted to couch surf in two cities, but as luck would have it, both times I was visiting on holiday weekends where people were out of town or already engaged with couch surfers. Better luck next time, I suppose.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm entertained with most movies, but would rather be out and about. As far as music - I love jazz, funk, classic rock, ska, reggae, bluegrass, alternative rock... and a lot of other stuff, so it's easier to ask about particular bands. Favorite author would have to be Kurt Vonnegut
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During college I spent a semester abroad in Athens, Greece. Aside from exploring that city, we traveled all around the country from Santorini to Sparta, Olympia, Delphi, Thessaloniki, Mycenae, and much of the Peloponnese as well Northern Greece.
After my study abroad ended I also traveled to Egypt, Rome, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and Austria. And finally, I spent my last month of this 6 month joy-ride in Sicily in and around a castle on a mountain in an archaeological field-school. Here we were taught the basics of excavation, artifact extraction, cleaning, analysis and curation. Plus it was awesome.
Teach, Learn, Share
Yes Yes and Yes. I am a bit of a polymath, even though I had to look that word up because I forgot it. I studied Classics, Anthropology and Archaeology and love to talk about such things with anyone who is interested, but I always enjoy talking with and learning from folks about what they do and theirs interests are.
