About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To understand and change the world.
ABOUT ME
Obviously I enjoy traveling. It all started while completing my undergrad. My roommate was looking at different ESL locations and he ended up selling me on it. I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in high school anyways, so this sounded perfect.
He ended up getting a great job with the University and was unable to travel with me. I didn't let that stop me. I took a TESL course through Oxford seminars and was prepared to go alone. Then I was unqualified for the place I wanted, so I went to Korea instead.
In Korea I got my first real taste of a new culture. Further I met a ton of people from my own or similar cultures with tons of traveling stories. I went to teachers college in Australia after Korea and have been looking for any other opportunity to travel and meet people ever since.
One of my friends I met along the way couch surfed Europe. I did the Europe thing meeting up mostly with friends from Europe I had met in Australia and going to hostels.
Beyond my travel stories I am a hobby writer and an avid sports fan. Specifically hockey (how Canadian) and baseball. I write frequently about baseball, occasionally about hockey and regularly about my travels when I am actually traveling. There should be a link to my travel blog on this website. You can find my favourite piece of writing about the Sistine chapel below:

PHILOSOPHY
I am not overly religious, but the Golden Rule makes a lot of sense to me. Do unto others as you would have done to you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed in New York City and it was a good experience. Met someone who knew a bit about the city and was able to give me advice on how to get around.
Then I surfed again in Czech Republic and Finland. Both were great experiences. My goal of that trip was to see some hockey games, and both my hosts were very accommodating and helped me achieve these goals.
I haven't been able to host anyone yet, but I finally have a couch available if there are any travelers in the area needing a spot.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I have only done it through this site once, in NYC. I have stayed with friends and friends families, which is a similar experience.
Interests
I kind of covered this in the about me, but I have a huge interest in sports, writing and education. Of course traveling as well, and these are all inter-related.
I use teaching as an opportunity to travel to different places, and will write about those places and experiences along the way. My sport love also has effected my travel desire lists, I would love to see a hockey game in Russia, Finland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. I also desire to do one huge road trip of the United States where I see a baseball game at EVERY ball park. Might be pretty ambitious.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't read as much as I would like, and movies and music I am pretty open to anything.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just living in a share house in Australia was amazing. Living with people from all over Europe, from Africa, Asia and Australia. A lot of cultural experience and sharing occurring on a daily basis.
Teach, Learn, Share
English is one thing I have that I am able to share. Everyone has a different perspective on life, so you can learn something just by listening to what someone else thinks.
