About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make the most of my stay in Zambia and then see where life directs me next
ABOUT ME
I was born and grew up in Prague and apart from about 3 years I was living here all my life. I went to high school here, left for a 1-year-long exchange program to the US (Iowa), came back to Czech, finished high school, started uni (English and American studies - literature, culture, linguistics), left for New Zealand where I lived for 7 months, came back again and finally got my BA degree. Then I started my MA studies - English linguistics - and left abroad again, this time to volunteer as an English teacher to a rural village in Nepal. Lived there for 5 months, then travelled around SE Asia a bit, returned yet again to Prague and finally finished my studies. Now I am excited to become a full-time traveller again, for the first time with no time-restrictions and school-related obligations to return. :)
Overall, I am a kind person, love helping others because it makes me feel useful, very relaxed and easy-going, not taking life too seriously. Also rather restless, always on the move or at least trying to avoid routine and stereotype. I don't want to spend my life trying to survive but truly live it and feel alive, that's my all time "mission." :) I'm optimistic and look on the bright side of life; also very easily excited, never giving up if I feel passionate about something, preferring action to words, and generally welcoming change and taking risks.
PHILOSOPHY
Some of my favourite quotes:
"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude."
"The past is history, the future is a mystery, now is a gift, that's why it's called the present"
"Live your dream, don't dream your life"
"Life is too short to remove usb safely"
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." (Edison)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can't offer a couch but what I can do is to show you around Prague, have a drink, share an interesting conversation and generally make your stay here as pleasant as possible. :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One summer I've spent 2 weeks travelling around England with my friends and we stayed at some amazing people from the CS community. It was a wonderful experience and it inspired me to join as well. Since then I have met some great people both while travelling and staying here in Prague.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies
I have way too many favourite movies, but to list a few: Amadeus, Pulp Fiction, Into the Wild, Trainspotting, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Lord of the Rings, Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind, Inception, Avatar, The Intouchables, Sin City, Kill Bill, Gladiator, K-Pax, Life is Beautiful, Up, Forrest Gump, The Bucket List, American Beauty, Shutter Island,....., Czech movies as well
Music:
I love music, can't live without it. The only negative side I see about music are tangled headphones that I struggle with pretty much every day :)
When at home (Czech) and living my ordinary life I mostly listen to rock, esp. The Hives, Foo Fighters, Guns'n'Roses, Beatles, Billy Talent, Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, Green Day, Muse, Coldplay, Radiohead, Scorpions, Pink Floyd, Nirvana..
When travelling I tend to get more mellow and folky, usually turning to Asa, Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio, Tracy Chapman, Jason Mraz, Eddie Vedder, etc.
But apart from these I am open to any kind of music, I always welcome something new to put into my mp3 player :)
Books:
Basically any good book is my favourite :), here's just a short list:
Flann O'Brien, Brian Friel, Woolf, Joyce, Beckett, Austen, Ian McEwan, Kerouac, Whitman, Emerson, Thoreau, Orwell, Wilde, Twain, Dostoyevsky, Poe, Coelho; Kafka, Havel, Foglar; some of my favourite books: On the Road, Lanark, Catcher in the Rye, Leaves of Grass, Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Mrs Dalloway, Brave New World, Catch 22, Lucky Jim, A Clockwork Orange, The Third Policeman, Norwegian Wood, and maaany others.
