About Me

I am from Atlanta and have a diverse range of educational interests and hobbies. I have a degree in Political Science with a focus in International Relations. I also previously attended art school for a year and almost went to film school.

I love the natural world and animals. I have a pet cat named Mona and thought about becoming a photographer and went to the Savannah College of Art and Design for a year on a professional writing scholarship.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love talking to interesting people and look forward to learning more about the world and its people with couch surfing! Beyond that, I love to travel and couch surfing is obviously a great way to start seeing the world.

Interests

I like reading, cooking, and coffee and have worked a variety of odd jobs to get through my undergraduate degree and can honestly say I think I share an interest with just about anyone since I love science, math, most sports, fiction, movies, theatre, cats, dogs, political science, art, dancing, coffee, walking, running, espresso, cooking, fashion and have read a variety of magazines or books about all of these subjects.

I eat a vegetarian diet with a few servings of fish each week and like reading about healthy eating and general fitness articles (but expect to be feeding myself on any of my couch surfing journeys).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read a lot of different kinds of books and would read something from any shelf in a bookstore since I have worked in one, but I don't entertain my bookworm inclinations as often as just reading magazines. My favorite books are still detox books (but I don't have a drug history!), sci-fi classics like Ender's Game, popular fiction bestsellers, and cookbooks.

My choice of movies is more particular. I like artistic movies the most like those by Woody Allen. I also really enjoy action and adventure movies like the Mummy movies or sci-fi movies. I also like watching drama films. Occasionally I will see an animated movie because I love art. For tv I only like watching comedy talk shows and the E! channel but still really like film.

I like popular music and my iTunes account has about 1,000 classic songs picked randomly from the last 30 years. So I don't really get stuck on any particular genre and even like listening to a classical music. I just don't always like a particular popular song and most music I listen to just has to have a good rhythm or voice. Some of the artists I listen to include: Jewel, One Republic, Imagine Dragons, Lorde, Katy Perry, Kesha, Rage Against the Machine, Coldplay, Marina and the Diamonds, Fiona Apple, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Adele, Lenny Kravitz, Janet Jackson, Pink, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Dave Mathews Band, Jack Johnson, Aerosmith, and a lot more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a "blue diamond" snow mountain when I was six years old but my dad accidently gave me unsafe snow boots for a kid that wouldn't stay stable in the skis. I was stopped by the ski patrol at the top and they gave me the most amazing sled ride down the mountain in a rescue sled pulled by a professional skier down an incredible blue diamond because my skis weren't safe! It was definitely unforgettable and much more fun than skiing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to:

-Play basic melodies on the guitar but I would like to learn more about music.
-Draw basic pictures color pictures but I love discussing art in general.

What I Can Share with Hosts

-Good conversation and an appreciation for the beauty of life.
