Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Angana and I'm from India. I have been living in Europe (first in Canterbury, UK and for the past one year in Berlin, Germany) since 2015. I'm currently a fourth year PhD student on an Erasmus Mundus programme called TEEME (Text and Event in Early Modern Europe). I am a total travel nut, never having had the opportunity to travel much in India and therefore making the best possible use of my limited time in Europe. I am very clean, tidy, and organised (traits inherited from my mother) and I'm always willing to talk about books, music, art, architecture, memes, and pop culture in general. I am multilingual, fluent in English, Bengali, and Hindi and reasonably competent in German. I can also read French and Latin. I also regularly play Dungeons and Dragons.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love travelling, but as an Indian girl on a student budget, I am usually looking for inexpensive places to stay in. I also love meeting new people, and although I generally love staying in hostels, I've had a few unpleasant experiences recently. I'm on Couchsurfing to look for kind people who would like to host me on my travels around Europe.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is extremely difficult to answer, but some of my favourites are:
Books: The Little Prince, King Lear, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, pretty much anything by Terry Pratchett, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell
Music: Favourite bands include Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Sleigh Bells, Sigur Ros. Back home, I'm a huge fan of A. R. Rahman's music
Movies: Literally too many to list
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelled to Cambridge, lined up at King's College at 6 am on Christmas Eve, stood in line for close to 9 hours in order to finally gain admittance to the chapel where I heard the college choir sing the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols (annually broadcast by the BBC). As someone who had been in the choir during my undergrad days, this had been on my bucket list for a long, long time.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Wales
