About Me

I am Angela, a 26 years old girl from Sydney, Australia. I have always loved to travel and meet new people, so I decided to start travelling this year starting in Europe!

I was born in Beijing and then moved to Sydney when I was a little girl and I lived in Australia ever since. So, I can speak English fluently and Mandarin Chinese almost fluently. In high school I studied Japanese and it's..... rusty! Therefore I would love to practice Japanese and also learn some new languages...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new and interesting people, getting to know them, listening to their stories and seeing the way they live their lives. In the past this has given me lots of inspiration on places to visit next, how to live my life. It has also shown me what a beautiful world we live in, full of wonderful people.

It's my dream to be able to meet travellers in my hometown when I come back and to provide a warm welcome to fellow travellers! It would be great to give back to this wonderful community and get inspiration from them on future places to visit!

Interests

3 years ago I started cycling and it's been a BIG passion for me ever since. So it just made sense for me to cycle around Europe as a way to travel. I have found it lets you enjoy the scenery as it lets you take things slowly, and gives you a big sense of achievement at the end!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the best things I've ever done was take my bicycle to Tasmania and cycle around there. Actually it rained a lot, but the hospitality and kindness of people there was so heartwarming. It was my first time travelling and even though I had a friend with me for a little bit of the time, it was scary. I quickly moved past that when I realised the freedom and excitement that comes with visiting new places and meeting new people!

On the trip, I hiked up Mount Roland. It was so peaceful to be with nature, and enjoy the landscape change as I walked up through the rainforest, past the tree line and through the alpine shrub. After much scrambling up the rocks at the peak I could see the Tasman Sea to the north and the famous Cradle Mountain to the south.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching and one of my favourite tasks when I worked at the hospital is teaching nursing students and new nurses!

But away from that, I love to cook and bake, so I love to teach people how to make food from my culture. One of my favourite food is lemon tarts, so before I left my house in Canberra, I shared with them my lemon tart recipe.

Likewise, I also love to learn new skills, crafts and recipes!! My old housemate was from Sri Lanka and he taught me how to cook the most beautiful lentil curry. If you can teach me a new recipe, a few words from a new language, or new skills I would LOVE that so so much. Especially woodworking and carpentry!
