About Me

I am a lot of things: a woman, an African-American, a writer, a runner, a (once really good) basketball player. I both love to have a good time and talk seriously and deeply about things that matter. I like to get to know people. I am profoundly cheesy, and sometimes cool, and I love to explore new places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One day, I want to travel far and wide, and would love to meet interesting and cool people like you guys along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: My Spotify playlist has the potential to jump from "Sparks" by Coldplay to "Alright" by Kendrick Lamar in a second. I love all kinds of music, but most of all the kind that makes me feel something.

Movies: I am a movie-addict because I love stories, love to watch them unfold and people's lives change. Current favorites (which are constantly changing) include: Birth of a Nation, La La Land, Secret Life of Walter Mitty (which has the magical ability to never get old), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Eat, Pray, Love.

Books: I'm currently in graduate school for Creative Writing so there is not enough space or time in the world to talk about the beauty of books, but a few favorites include Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz, and The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was a sophomore in college - straight-A student and Pre-Med, mind you - I ran away with a really amazing person and dropped out of school (in that order) headed for Seattle. We only made it to Denver, but it was a grand adventure.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Hmm, what do I know well enough to teach? Maybe writing. Maybe looking on the bright side. Got it: How to make an amazing grilled cheese.

Learn: You know, I've always wanted to learn web design. Also, Spanish.

Share: Life stories, maybe? A meal. A roof?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a decent photographer, particularly with candid shots, so in exchange for somewhere to stay, we could go on a mini-photo shoot excursion if you'd like. I also have the ability to make people smile on a good day so I could potentially share that with you too.

Countries I’ve Visited
