About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experiencing and connecting with this world and its inhabitants in all their glory and weirdness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Are you coming to Austin soon? Let's hang out! There's a nice balance of city conveniences, ways to experience nature, and great food here.

I've had the pleasure of meeting, hanging out, and becoming close friends with several of the CS hosts and surfers here in Austin and I also lived with a fantastic roommate for a couple years who gave me a proper introduction to it by hosting quite a few cool travelers. Everyone I've known from the CS community so far has been super friendly, open, and loads of fun to spend time with. Now I aim to do my first surfing on a trip to Europe in September 2015!

Interests

Travel, packing as light and practical as possible, knowledge, art, indie comics, delicious food and drink ALWAYS, yoga, video games, languages, cute cuddly animals, more tasty foods, funny stories, laughing, camping, hiking, healthy foods, staying within my budget, always learning something new. Wait, did I mention FOOD?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There's just too much to enjoy in life to only pick one. This list helps remind me how unbelievably fortunate I've been and how much adventure is still waiting out there.

- Oktoberfest in Stuttgart, Germany with thousands of wonderfully friendly drunken singing Germans
- traveling to the top of the Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan
- playing Pato Pato Ganso with adorable kids in Mexico and teaching them to make origami cranes
- seeing The Book of Mormon on Broadway for New Year's Eve in New York
- partying in a penthouse lounge on the strip in Las Vegas
- relaxing solitude in a mountaintop cabin in lush green Tennessee
- snowmobiling in Colorado and seeing a moose!
- eating a delicious steak dinner overlooking Niagara Falls
- swimming with dolphins and snorkeling with a real wild sea turtle in Curaçao! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm, maybe I could teach a little drawing, painting, or Photoshop.
I wish I could learn EVERYTHING, but very interested in learning about other languages, cultures, and world views. Would love to share a meal, a story, or an experience. I've also been told many times that I give GREAT hugs, so there's also that. :)

"You can't learn if you're hungry."
- Quote from my very own Grandma

"... live deep and suck out all the marrow of life...."
- Henry David Thoreau

What I Can Share with Hosts

Company, cleanliness, enthusiasm, friendship, respect, appreciation, curiosity, wonder, laughs, hugs, drinks, meals, and maybe even some nice homecooked TexMex if time and markets permit.

** Full disclosure of things I honestly don't love to go out and do: **

Clubbing (pubs & bars are cool, though)
Dancing (I'm just not good at it, man)
Karaoke (see above)

I know, I know, but speaking from experience, they're just not my jams. If you love these, then rock on and have fun! But in general, if it's so loud I can't hear what you're saying or get to know you then it's probably not my personal idea of a great time. I'm more of a picnic in the park/chill at a coffee shop/enjoy some relaxed drinks or lovely dinner/wander/explore/see the sights kind of gal. I like my fair share of adventure, spontaneity, and debauchery but probably won't find it for myself in the 3 listed above. If you want to find the best view in the city to sip tea or wine at, then let's go on a hunt together! ;-)
