About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being more awesome at being a strategist, and adding some new countries to my checklist :).

ABOUT ME

I work for the largest digital marketing company in the Netherlands and have a passion for travelling and cultures. I first spent a year abroad when I was 18 and have never wanted to go back since.

I am from the Netherlands and therefore crazy about cheese, riding bikes and good weather (since we don't have any of our own!). I would like to see more of the world and meet as many people as I can, I believe travelling makes the world a smaller and kinder place!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that everyone should travel and come into contact with other languages, countries and cultures. They will grow from those experiences into a more tolerant person, and become a world citizen.

I also believe that even small steps can help against climate change.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and opening my home to others.

Interests

I like gardening, I’m a crazy plant lady, I love reading, riding bikes, motorcycles, and good old fashioned hand written post cards.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I saw the Taj Mahal in real life. It rendered me speechless (which doesn't happen very often) and I was amazed by its beauty and grandeur. I was there, in scalding hot Indian weather and could not believe my eyes when I was finally there. It was so much more beautiful and astounding than it was on pictures and on television, a truly humbling sight.

Another moment was when I went to live in Beatrice, Nebraska (USA) for a year with a host family. The first time I went into my new room and the realization sunk in that this was going to be my new home for a year, here where everything was weird and new to me. I cried for an hour and then told myself to suck it up before I fell into a dreamless sleep, with the weight of a thousand new impressions on me. I think it was then that I got infected with the travel bug.

Countries I’ve Visited
