About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travelling the world, one excavation at a time!!!!
ABOUT ME
After my MSc I headed off for a year long a trip around the world for one year. Including 3 months in SE Asia, then I headed to Australia for another 3 months, and a short hop over to New Zealand and I finally spent a 4 and a half months in the wonderful South America!
Before that I finished studying human bones at university, sounds a bit weird and unusual, and I guess it is. It's mainly to do with archaeology and at the moment I am trying my hardest to get a job in it. From a skeleton you can tell a lot about a person as it gives you a really good insight into how that individual lived as well as tell you about the population or community in the past.
My travels got me in touch with various academics, which lead me to move to New Zealand and start my PhD. Three years later I have finished and meet a great guy, so here to stay - for the time being at least. As a break for finishing my thesis we headed off to Nepal and India for 6 weeks. This was an incredible end to an amazing journey and trekking in the Himalaya was definitely a highlight of my life!!!
PHILOSOPHY
Live your life like it's the only one you've got!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have been a surfing in Chicago whilst I visited the city after a conference. As I've been doing my PhD and in sharing housing it has been difficult to host anyone, but now my fiancee and I are moving into our own house and have a spare bedroom and couch.
Interests
I love rock climbing. Have done this a bit in Laos, Thailand, OZ, NZ as well as in the UK It's the best way to keep fit and enjoy yourself.
I have got my PADI open water, and advanced and really enjoy diving.
I did a lot of WWOOFing whilst I was away and met some great families and people. I'm certainly no stranger when it comes to doing my fair-share of cooking/cleaning etc. and I love meeting and getting to know new people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music and it's the only things that I really needed whilst I was traveling. Somehow every situation can be made right when you listen to your favourite band.
For me this is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but others include Kings of Leon, Black Keys, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and any old rock music really.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It is so difficult to answer 'one thing' that I've seen or done which was amazing. I suppose one the greatest things was excavating on an archaeological site up a 3800 metre mountain in Peru for 4 weeks with no fresh water or electricity and sleeping in tents. It was truly an AMAZING experience to wake up with the sun every morning onto the snow capped peaks surrounding our 'small' hill in the middle of the valley.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a good cook and I really love cooking! So, I'm happy to help out or let someone else have the night off.
