Overview
About Me
Hiya! I'm a prairie transplant now living in beautiful British Columbia. When my parents arrived in Canada in 1999 with two suitcases and a toddler, the first thing they did was purchase a second-hand car and camp their way from Saskatchewan through the Canadian Rockies. I've been roaming the Great White North (and beyond!) ever since.
Feeling spoiled to be residing on Vancouver Island surrounded by beautiful forests, ocean, and mountains. Currently working on an MSc in Environmental Studies, where I spent lots of time reading, playing with data, making maps, and frolicking (read as: researching) in the Arctic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm interested in experiencing new places with the people that know if best.
Though most of my time is spent in the lab, I'm excited to explore more of the Pacific Northwest.

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC: Too many to begin...! I enjoy a bit of everything and I'm always excited to listen to something new.
MOVIES: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Midnight in Paris, Howl's Moving Castle
BOOKS: It's so hard to choose favourites! Here are a few, based on some standout quotes -
"People always think that happiness is a faraway thing. Something complicated and hard to get. Yet, what little things can make it up; a place of shelter when it rains - a cup of strong hot coffee when you're blue; a book to read when you're alone - just to be with someone you love. Those things make happiness" - Francie Nolan (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn)
"Science is made up of mistakes; but of mistakes which lead to the discovery of truth" -Professor Lidenbrock (Journey to the Center of the Earth)
"There is nothing magical in [books] at all. The magic is only in what books say, how they stitched the patches of the universe together into one garment for us" - Guy Montag (Fahrenheit 451)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived on a boat journeying through the Northwest Passage
Teach, Learn, Share
Ever wanted to learn a tonal language? Wish you knew how to communicate with over 1.3 billion people? I can teach you Mandarin so you can know how to differentiates tones like "ma" to mean (1) horse, (2) mom, (3) inconvenient, and (4) to insult.
I can share a lot of miscellaneous facts on remote sensing and satellite earth observations, if for some reason that is something that fascinates you
(If you haven't experienced it yet while reading through this profile) I will share my dry sense of humor with you.
Countries I’ve Visited
China, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, United States
