About Me

Don't confuse CS with Tinder ;)

I'm a 26 year old girl from Hall in Tirol.
That's a small city in the west of austria all surrounded by beautiful mountains ;)
For my studies I moved to the opposite end of Austria, to the capital vienna.
I've never liked big cities, so I was surprised when I started to fall in love with vienna and that lovely angry attitude people here tend to show.

I moved back to tirol last febraury to do my masters thesis in a laboratory :)

I live in a house with my boyfriend Dominik and our flatmate Valentin.
We have some extra space we would like to share with travellers :)
Hall is only 10min by train from innsbruck, but we also have parking possibilities.

I guess most people on this site like travelling, and so do i :)
I'm interested in meeting people from all over the world and to get to know them and their ways of thinking or how culture and language has an influence on how you see the world, how you express yourself and what reaction words recall in youself.
For example the direct and harsh way in contrast to the more polite (and mostly more annoying ;p ) beating around the bush-way...
I believe the more we try to understand others and get their point of view, the more we are able to be understanding (well, the word said that already^^) to forgive and also to learn about ourselfes.
Okok, enough of the deep talk ;D
It normally takes one or two glasses of wine and the right atmosphere to reveal my inner phylosopher.
Usually I prefer to talk about more nerdy stuff, there is nothing I love more than having a good chat about science. B-)

In my freetime i'm a scouts leader. We always sang a lot of songs at the campfire, and that was one of the reasons for me to learn how to play the guitar. I'm singing in the university choral and like to meet people to make musik together, but that's something where the moment must be right, I don't think you can force creativity. ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always enjoy meeting new friends while travelling. I think it really widens one's horizon to have conversations with interesting people :)
I'm not so keen on mass-tourism beaches and running from sight to sight just to take photos...

Interests

I'm nuts about bacteria and all kind of microorganisms, I want to know how their little bodies work, how they interact, evolve.... Why and how DNA changes over time or with human interference.
Also the bigger animals are fascinating, from childhood on I was interested in their behaviour and tried to train my hamsters, now I want to know why they behave how they do it (like with humans ;)) and what chemical substances in their brains make them do it etcetc...
But research on that topics I leave to others, I'm at home with the small guys, I study Biotechnology B-)
I especially enjoy the cool physics stuff. The lotus effect is well known I guess, buuut did you know also that the wings of cicades can kill bacteria due to their nanostructure? You should really check that out on Bionity, it's my favorite science website. ;p

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Making a profil on this website. I think it was an amazing idea to do this^^

What I Can Share with Hosts

My badass cooking skills and wine. It's always nice to share wine ;D
And on my profile it might not sound like that, but i can also talk about stuff besides from science, I'm easy going, people appear to feel comfortable next to me (what I find very important) and if you like my humor I'm also funny :)
I'm a little with the head in the clouds from time to time, but in contrast to that I have inherited a good portion of common sense, (or have I been raised like that?) and if we have breakfast and you are opening your egg, you can be pretty sure I'll pass you the salt without you having to say anything. (You wouldn't want to interrupt me anyways when I tell you about how one snail inserts hormons directly between the eyes of the other snail, would you? ;P)
