Hello there! I'm Angélique. Nice to meet you :) Je suis Québécoise of French and Polish decent. I currently work as a Media project coordinator with youth in Nunavik, Northern Quebec.

Little things amaze me. I've got a great passion for life, people and discoveries. I love hearing people speaking languages I don't understand. And I love food, a lot.

I was lucky enough to grow up with parents who loved traveling. From a young age I ''caught'' the wanderlust. I started traveling solo at 18 and since took every opportunities to travel, explore and learn. My adventures have taken me backpacking parts of Europe and Asia, working as an au pair in Italy and Poland, teaching snowboarding in the Canadian Rockies and the Alps, enjoying the midnight sun in Yukon and studying in Hong Kong where I ate way too many Dim Sum and living.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

Couchsurfing is an amazing way to travel and to meet others with shared values. It's such a cool concept. Discovering a city with its locals is the best way to do it, and it helps the budget! Up until now, I've only been a surfer, but when I settle down, I want to give as much and host. The friends I make while traveling will always be welcomed to stay with me in Canada, when I go back!

Interesses

I will always pick live music over a club, but I really love to dance in any context. I enjoy everything art and culture. I'm a foodie, so you won't find me at Starbuck or McDonald's. I enjoy the outdoors too, be it chilling on the beach or hiking a volcano (still on the bucket list).

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

At 18, I missed a flight in Frankfurt to go back to Klodzko, a really small town in Poland. It was all well planned, but I took the wrong train to go to the airport. Stuck in Germany, I couldn't take another flight; it was far too expensive. I didn't have a smartphone, no real access to internet. I was stressed and alone. How can I get to such a small town, not speaking German, Czech or Polish? I knew I could get to Prague, a couple of hours away from my little town. I took a train to a city I can't remember, then a bus to arrive in Prague quite late. I walked around for an hour to find a hostel where I finally slept for about 4 hours before going back to the train station. There were trains to go to Klodzko, but I had to transfer at some point in Czech Republic. Good thing: It was the Euro Cup and some supporters of the Czech Team were going the same way as I was! I finally arrived in Klodzko in the morning, exhausted. It's not such an amazing thing, but it's a moment that I ended being proud of, as I dealt with the situation by myself during my first solo travel.
