About Me

CURRENT MISSION

NB: After 3 years of being a dedicated couchsurfer, I was recently given a negative reference in a very unjust manner. This has made me decide to give up active couchsurfing for a while and take some time to think things over

ABOUT ME

I have always been an avid traveller and reader. Recently I have been spending my life somewhat on my own so I have had ample time to do both things. Whenever I have a chance to travel, I grasp it. I am especially interested in European mode of life and culture, trying to find the similarities between the life in developed economies and a newly-accepted EU member (my country Bulgaria, I mean). Anyone who is willing to meet me or come over to stay for a few days is very much welcome.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to take it too seriously. Enjoyment and motion are the basics of human existence. Here is one I learnt recently from Alain: "Life is not a restaurant but a buffet, stand up and help yourself"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am ready to host anyone willing to visit me unless I am totally busy. This gives a chance to people to exchange ideas, views, thoughts and to become real friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

visited 18 states (8%)Create your own visited map of The World

The most amazing thing so far have been my more than twelve visits to Rome. I have been to various places in Europe but somehow Rome (and Italy as a whole) stands out in a special way for me. This is the place where one really SEES with open eyes, and finds oneself.
August 14,2008 - My trip to the Rhodopi mountains was quite enough for me to realise that Bulgaria is indeed amongst the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful country, in Europe. During my trip with Alain I saw really breath-taking landscapes.
July 6, 2009 - Last week I spent three unforgettable days in Assisi, Umbria, Italy. Never in my life had I seen such a spiritual, insightful, clean and beautiful place.
Jan 29, 2001 - My recent trip to South Italy, that is the Salerno area, Amalfi Coast, and Maratea in Basilicata is really "one amazing thing I have seen or done in my lifetime". One can stand virtually petrified and speechless before all this God-blessed land. The real acme of insight into nature and one's surroundings.

Teach, Learn, Share

My job is to teach and to learn. I regard this in a broader sense and use every opportunity possible to gain knoqledge from my university students as much as I hope they do from me. I adore learning from the people I meet through couchsurfing and every acqaintance I make adds up to my personality and makes me stop and think about my bright and dark sides. I share my knowledge, my good and bad experiences, my house and the wisdom I possibly have. Well, it is getting harder to be heard, but then, this is life . . .
