Hi all, my name is Angelo and I'm a freelance writer and photographer from Italy. Over the past decade or so, I have lived in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the Netherlands, before returning to my home city in Florence. Before moving back to Europe, I spent two years crossing Asia overland and developed a fascination with Central Asian countries and the former Soviet space.

My experiences on the road have also turned into my job - as a freelancer I have written travel guides, contributed with articles and photography to many publications, run podcasts, and published a book. I usually try to combine my trips with creative projects, and try to find unusual stories to tell.

I'm a curious person and enjoy listening to surprising stories. I have many to tell myself. I try to avoid flying when I can and when I'm traveling I spend most of my time hiking, reading or taking pictures of ugly buildings. I don't tend to plan much in advance and I'm always keen to go with the flow.

Some of my favorite authors are Georges Perec, Kurt Vonnegut, Venedikt Erofeev, David Foster Wallace, Olga Tokarczuc, but I read a bit of everything.

I listen to punk and post-rock mostly: I like The Chats, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Amyl & The Sniffers, METZ, Boards of Canada.

I don't watch many movies, but when I do they are either very funny or very weird.
