About Me

CURRENT MISSION

CONSUME less and PRODUCE more. and floss twice a day.

ABOUT ME

i live with my partner in a tiny home that's part of a beautiful garden tucked away in West Oakland. unplugging from the housing market has been the most liberating opportunity of my life.

we are currently defending an eviction, and host people regularly, usually folks from the community that need a free place to stay.

we spend our days playing with the Scubjays and their baby Greyheads.

we water the garden every day, and grow a variety of vegetables and fruits every season. we expect anyone who stays at the garden to share our passion for farming and fresh produce.

any visitors who will be staying overnight should be ready for the poop buckets. dealing with my own shit has been transformative, and i hope it is for you too.

as for the stuff you probably really like to know if you're going to be hosting me at your place:

- i'm clean and courteous of people's personal space and privacy. i've become more of an introvert over the years, but definitely come out of my shell around outgoing people

- i don't like to show up empty-handed (i'll ask what you like to drink or eat)

- i love to try new things and am open to recommendations!

- ask me whatever, i'm open that way

PHILOSOPHY

i'm not religious...more of a humanist. i believe in helping people and contributing to others' happiness in any way i can. i like to volunteer. getting outside of myself is the only thing that can make me sane sometimes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i couchsurfed once in phnom penh. my first time, and my host was wonderful. truly a great experience, as i've seen more and more the wastefulness of vacant private property, i've only become an even bigger fan of couchsurfing.

i'm always down to show people around Oakland, so holla if you're in town!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

just once in cambodia - and i loved it!

my host picked me up at the airport, took me all over phnom penh, cooked me a fantastic home-cooked meal (best meal i had in cambodia), and helped me figure out how to get to chi phat. i don't expect such kindness from strangers, but i am very thankful for the experience.

everyone i've talked to in this community has been gracious and kind.

Music, Movies, and Books

i'm currently reading Secolo Nuovo by Fulvia Ferrari. it's the first fiction book i've read in ages, and i love it. it's historical, so i'm learning a lot about the revolutionary struggle, but then it's also sci-fi in that the characters live in a utopic 1950s commune in Santa Rosa, CA. wild stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

we built a tiny home (free housing! no rent!) for an unhoused neighbor here in West Oakland
