About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Inner peace, joy and prosperity.
ABOUT ME
My number one role right now is being a Mum to 16 year old Jessie. Jessie is a free spirited, social, beautiful girl who fits in well in all social settings. My number two role is trying to make a living out of my varied gifts and talents. (My downfall is that I'm easily distracted. I'm quite hyperactive and people wonder where I get my energy, but a tendency to squeeze too much into my life has meant suffering health at times. I'm friendly and outgoing. I have had tremendously varied experiences for my age, especially considering I haven't travelled outside of NZ except for Oz, and that doesn't really count (because half the family has emigrated there). I am fairly stationary in Dunedin for now, however dreaming of all those I want to go. Freedom and fun are my friends. Routine and boredom make a rebel out of me. I have had a few life threatening experiences so don't get freaked out if I talk about it. I cool with it. In my opinion, I have a way broader mind than most kiwis. Helping others makes me happy... that's why I'm here.
PHILOSOPHY
In the famous words of Margaret Mead: NEVER DOUBT THAT A SMALL GROUP OF THOUGHTFUL, COMMITTED PEOPLE CAN'T CHANGE THE WORLD. IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT EVER HAS. Live hard, play hard, work hard and laugh hard. Life is short and surprisingly fragile so celebrate every day. Don't save up to celebrate, make today a special occasion. Life is to be enjoyed, not endured.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I create a safe environment for international travellers and where possible give an awesome introduction to Dunedin. I know this town like the back of my hand and could probably make a business out of what I do for CSers. Maybe that's something to consider for the future seeing it comes so naturally to me. I don't do anything by halves so I take CSers when I can give them my best.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It's been awesome to open my home to people who became friends. Evidently, the universal laws of attraction are real indeed. My couchsurfers are people I would have chosen for friends anyway. They take a part of me wherever they go and they all leave an imprint on me. (I can't always take people though or there would be no room or time in my life for me and my family!)
Interests
I love nature, (bush walking, beaches, animals). I own 3 dogs, 2 turtles and 1 cat so if you don't like animals, or are allergic I'm probably not the couch for you. I like to train and swim at Moana Pool regularly. Moana Pool is a must see if you are in Dunedin (water temperature 27 degrees and spa in late 30s! As good as a massage.) I'm sociable, like wine & enjoy a party. I love cocktails, & enjoy a beer at times. I love meeting new people and enjoy being a host. I'm known for my positive energy and smile. I'm also creative and dream of writing my own book. I'm into nature photography, especially beaches and sunrises. I like creativity & art but am no expert. I have a strong political, social and environmental conscience but get frustrated by processes. I meditate for inner peace, stress management and spiritual development. I like to eat out because my cooking skills need development, (ie my menu is boring and learning new recipes is a desire without a deadline.) A sense of progress is really important to me, and a sense of achievement in my years. I try to do one thing to make my life better every day. My desire to travel is getting stronger every day, so my feet are getting itchier.

Music, Movies, and Books
At uni I studied film and media and worked as a film reviewer in local TV. Since this job ended 4 years ago, along with other roles in TV presenting, TV production and advertising sales I prefer to blob and watch DVDs at home. I've always been a book worm, and constantly have a pile next to the bed that are part way through. I'm an alternative person in many ways with an active interest in alternative healing modalities and the power of the mind. I love all types of music and indulge regularly. Favourite authors would have to include Louise Hay, Depak Chopra and Doreen Virtue. I dreamed of being a writer and journalist and that drum is still beating inside me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I have ever done is given birth! It defies physics! On my 21st I was holding a 2 day old baby, thinking I was incapable of being a good parent, and now 14 years have gone by and she's awesome! It just proves that fear is an illusion of the mind (FEAR=False Evidence Appearing Real).
Other amazing things include inner transformation; the journey fromm poverty consciousness to abundance consciousness, from victim to victor. Yay! You get what you expect to get.
Teach, Learn, Share
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that's why it is called 'the present'.
You are alive NOW. Seize the moment and do what you want to do. If you are not happy, change it. Put your hands on the steering wheel of your life, as only you can. Put your hands on the steering wheel of your thoughts.
