Music, Movies, and Books

All kinds of music, from classical to experimental and beyond. Egyptian pop, traditional Slavic music, and American folk music are just some of the things I like to listen to. I also play several instruments, so I like to make music in addition to enjoying music made by others.

I like just about any kind of movie except for really cheesy action movies and juvenile comedies. I especially enjoy weird or asthetically pleasing movies such as Porcile, the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and The Triplets of Belleville, or politically-motivated movies such as Metropolis, Dheepan, or Snowpiercer.

I read lots of things, both compelling fiction and a wide range of non-fiction, especially Marxist texts. Right now I'm read Leon Trotsky's History of the Russian Revolution and Calvet's Language Wars.
