About Me

Can usually just accept guests from Thursday to Sunday night. (AWAY FROM 21st MAY to 3rd JUNE)

Passionate about trying new experiences at any given opportunity, I'm often eager to meet new people from different backgrounds to my own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's the ideal community. Whether I'm hosting people or staying round random people's houses, through Couchsurfing, I feel I'll meet like minded travellers.

Through my experiences in hitchhiking across Europe, I've found the best way to experience a place is getting to know those living in the country. The desire for an authentic, explorative form of travelling leads me to want to try out Couchsurfing.

CS is clearly more than just a platform for free housing, it's a way to broaden horizons.

Interests

History- I studied History at Leeds University and recently wrote my dissertation on Scottish nationalism.

Politics- Follow UK & US politics pretty closely & have met quite a few MPs in my time. You'll have to guess in person which party I most closely associate myself with.

Football- Loyal supporter of the benevolent Norwich City FC, proficient FIFA player & always up for a good kick about/ sunday league match.

Cycling- This is just something I've just got into, having started commuting by bicycle for work.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite artists: Caribou, Stromae, Black Keys
Favourite songs: God's Gonna Cut You Down (Johnny Cash), Not In Love (Crystal Fighters), Around the World (Daft Punk), Kids with Guns (Gorillaz), Raindrops (Basement Jaxx), Guaranteed (Eddie Vedder)

Films: Anything Tarantino!
Some Clint Eastwood films (Grant Torino & Letters from Iwo Jima)
American Beauty
Oldboy (South Korea has many classics)
City of God
Schindler's List
Batman, the Dark Knight
LOTR

TV series: Game of Thrones
Inbetweeners
South Park (not so much the latest series)

Books: I mostly read non-fiction. In this regard, I'm currently reading Chavs: The Demonisation of the Working Class (Owen Jones) and Democracy in America (De Tocqueville).
Fiction-wise, I'm taking a liking to George Orwell atm.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

2016, August- Visited Israel and crossed into Palestine for a few days.

2015, June:
I've recently overcome my fear of heights, to become a qualified skydiver. To this end, I currently have 31 skydives to my name.

2015, July:
Hitchhiked from Rodez, France, to Marrakech, Morocco. At one point, I inadvertently got a lift from 2 drug dealers, 1 of whom was illegally living in Spain.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk extensively about British politics, which might be particularly interesting for you in light of Brexit.

I can teach some of the basic on how to learn skydiving.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm very open-minded, I'll happily talk about anything, including commonly considered taboo subjects.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Palestine, Peru, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Peru, United Kingdom
